Under the crud the metal was good.
That white stuff was a pain.

Even hints of paint were found.

The chain was still seized into the shape of the pulley, as well coated in white crud.

So, I solved that with a simple application of heat.

We have a working hoist.
The chain has since been lubricated with:
Lamp Black.
Linseed Oil
Bee's wax.

I finally got around to installing the steering gearbox that I rebuilt (see repairs HERE) on our 1953 Ford tractor. It steers SO much better now. It's almost like having power steering compared to how it was before.

Here's the rebuilt gearbox after painting it. The four bolts are just there to keep paint out of the threads while spraying it.

I also did a bit of finish work on the sheet metal that I repaired (see repairs HERE), and then installed it on the tractor.

Here is the "BEFORE" image, showing the crude bodywork done by some previous owner(s):

Here it is after I repaired the worst of the previous bodywork and gave it a quick paint job (and a new emblem):

I've only used it a few hours since putting it back together, and it's already getting scratched up from the branches, briars, and brambles along the edges of the fields. As I mentioned before, I'm not trying to do a full restoration; I just want a decent-looking working machine.

I'm considering doing some engine overhaul work on it over the winter. It's still running pretty well, but the mill is getting a little long in the tooth.

i got one the same size given as the green one. you can lift a brigeport miller up using a finger and thumb to lift it

Well a week off work then straight into a first (for me anyway!).

Extracting a snake from an FZ6..

It didn't want to come out, was nice and gentle with it and we manged to coax it out eventually.

Every day is a learning day!.

Fixed my flailmower today, welded and machined pressure roll shaft, new bearings, its on skids now in stead of castors and welded the liner back up. Tommorow new oil and testing.

It was a Corn Snake, it escaped from it's enclosure and decided the FZ6 was a more comfy place to live!.

They are strong when the don't want to move, was amazed really.

My rear brakes had started to grumble but the pads had been replaced within the last year (I had been led to believe).
Looking through the wheel seemed to corroborate that belief.
Anyway, my friend came over today and took the wheel off and split the caliper.
This is what dropped out of the inner side:

I have not seen one delaminate like that before in over 40 years of doing brakes

EBC pads had a reputation for pad material separating from the backing plate. I had it on Red Stuff pads fitted to a Mondeo and standard sintered on a motorbike luckily the rear as that locked up.
