Another day, another bike to re-wire.

At least it's not another set of carbs I suppose!.

Had to use my modified oil filter cup on a Harley yesterday (made it for a particularly stubborn BMW a while back)

No access and very tight filter so 4 self tappers to the rescue!.

Following on from this thread - Fiesta ST Diff Bearings
Due go this situation.

Not the best picture, but there's a lot of sparkly bits in the bottom of that oil.

I've fitted this to Mrs DanZac's Fiesta ST. Which now unfortunately means that I can now hear her wittering on over the gearbox noise again, and now no longer have an excuse for ignoring her.

Over the last few weeks it had gradually got more and more noisy, until she finally decided to tell me that it was knackered (and that normally means it's pretty well fubared).

My initial plan was to strip it down and fit new bearings, but as it was £250 for a bearing set, or £350 for a second hand, low mileage, gearbox, that seemed like a far quicker and easier option.

Not a bad job to do to be honest, considering that it was done on the floor outside. It was a bit of a struggle getting the replacement in, but nothing a bit of swearing didn't sort.

When I get time I'll strip the old gearbox and see if it's worth rebuilding as a spare, but for now, the little Fiesta lives to fight another day.

You've done the right thing there, got the car back on the road and can have a look at the old one at your leisure.

Saying that I've had a gearbox in bits from 2018 and haven't got round to rebuilding it yet!.

I fixed two rolls of film, after developing and bleaching them.


I think I'm gonna finally give in and pay for Lightroom and NLP to edit the scans, I've not been particularly impressed with a single picture I've scanned so far, and I must have about a thousand by now.

Come home from work tonight and we've all decided to get the Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo back on the road..

More mods than you can shake a stick at and 550bhp but laid up for a long while.

Will be nice to see this back on the road eventually!

It's a sorry state outside but my daughter has asked if we can give it a good clean.

Got a Kevlar timing belt to fit bu that may be just the tip of the iceberg..

Got rid of some "clean" stone the builders trashed. They were instructed to keep tarps / DPMs etc., over the French drain around the front of the house. Surprise surprise they didn't. They offered to clean it (yeah charging me) so I told them you pay for a 15t load of stone and I'll dig it out.

We were going to repurpose it but between the neighbour (carpenter / roofer) and builders there were a lot of nails etc., and with a wedding imminent didn't have anywhere convenient to dump it. So I popped around to aforementioned neighbour and said did he want any stone - there might be a few nails in it but they're your nails anyway. He said yes please so I duly stole his tractor and trailer and filled it up.

Tyres pumped up to 50psi+ and took it back around to him.

Just put a new piece of drainage coil in and finished painting the band so now time to go out and refill with the actually clean stone.

Nope about 2/3rds of the pile gone ready. We had to bring in 465t to do the drives.

It wasn't too bad actually. It was 100t over our estimate but because I did the roller and the dumper work the machinery costs were significantly lower than I expected.

Friend I use normally works on the basis of labour costs are roughly equal to material costs (worst case) and in this instance we were drastically under.

Fixed a toolbox to my Ifor Williams trailer so I can keep more ratchet straps in it.

I used some rubber strips to go inbetween the chassis and the toolbox.

Some silicone on the bolts/washers to hopefully prevent water ingress.

Been re-writing the Idle Control code for our Golf over the past week (probably 12+ hours in it now!).

Managed to get it compiled this morning and loaded into my MS1.

It was time well spent, completely different car to drive now at low revs.

Untangling my 17 year old code took most of the time really. Probably 500+ lines of code to get it right.

Been out this afternoon for a good drive with my daughter (she's on laptop duty and learnt a fair bit about cars work recently).

Job jobbed!
