Yesterday I was going for a ride with my little tractor.
Launched my last stupidity rocket in 22.
Took nearly 2 hours to recover these small tool.
Today I need to clean all the mess. My wife is not very amused about that I transformed our family van into a construction one.

I made a piece of 6mm stainless rod into a 5mm piece of stainless rod

The travelling steady has never been out of its wrapping.....think the M300 is well over 30years old......luckily the previous owner left all the add-ons in the cupboard under the bed

I keep looking every so often for a M300 travelling steady in the vain hope that a reasonable price one has popped up on eBay etc, sadly not

So having dimensionally reduced this lot with a rather large maul as part of my new years fitness and weight loss program does that counteract the half bottle of port from last night? using man maths its seems ok? would testing the dimensionally reduced product for flammability later with the remaining port and a small cigar be included in the operation of reducing the dimensions of the shown product or would additional rapid movement be required? when visiting the throne room does depositing a kilo or so of Christmas/new year no2 count as part of my weight loss program?! any tips gratefully received but not necessarily actioned upon!

Started rewiring my J&S 540. One of the original contactors was arcing badly.

Also i didn't like the control voltage being 400v!

Just need to order a surface mount isolator (4-pole to replace the ancient MEM 3 pole) and do some cable management.

I'm not especially proud of this one: the main joints (dovetail housing or sliding dovetail I think they're called) were done with a trim router rather than by hand and they're far from perfect. However, it does the job, which is tidying up the bedside table a bit (as it tends to get in a bit of a mess) and also lifting the light up a bit higher for more comfortable reading in bed.

In situ:

I'll try to get some better photos in decent light: my phone camera doesn't seem to cope with low light as well as (I think) it used to.

Made from two pieces of american black walnut, both of which were resawn on the bandsaw, then hand planed. One was glued back together in a bookmatched manner to make the shelves (the upper shelf was cut back to become one board again as its narrower - with hindsight I only really needed to join half of it, but I wanted to pick the nicest grain for the joined shelf so I glued the whole lot then inspected it). The other was used as the sides. The grain on the sides is very radial, so it'll be interesting to see if it stays in one piece or moves enough to rip the joints apart I'd picked dovetail housing joints thinking they might hold everything together nicely, but the (lack of) accuracy is such that I think the glue will be doing a lot of work!

Finish is 3 or 4 (can't remember now) coats of the magic stuff.
