I seem to spy some orange machine that comes from Austria I have some of her cousins here!
I'll admit that the loose/lose and off/of misuse does grate but I don't think I've ever corrected anyone over it. The other side is, if no-one mentions it, how would you know? So repeating the same error(s) without anyone mentioning it just reinforces your belief that you're using the correct words or spelling. An oft-used phrase is 'every day is a school day' surely that applies to the written word just as much as other types of knowledge imparted online?.This is how it is, I proof read and spell check everything I write, bad grammar and spelling is really not good, however, and this is the however: Not everyone on this forum or in the world generally are native English speaking AND not everyone spent all of their formative years at school, some not by choice either. So rather than butting in and correcting people, I let them get on with it, the more you read and write, the better you get, if you get pulled up every five minutes you wont be able to read and write so less time to practice. People who are holier than thou with regard to reading and writing are clueless really as they have never considered it from any other perspective other than their own.
Makes me wince when I see a shelf above a lathe. It's worth doing though. Sod's law says the first time something rolls off, it'll hit a rotating chuck.
YOu utter bastid!
Yes we have.@Memmeddu Shocked - you have Dentists in Italy (there is shortage of them in the UK)
Are your Dentists - state funded or private pay as you go?

Replacing the fuel lines on the chainsaws I have been fixing, I found the long nose pliers to short to get to the bottom of the tank without the handles hitting the edge of the filler hole. There was nothing available in the local shops on a Sunday and short of raiding the hospital operating theatre....
I got a set of the cheapest long nose pliers I could find around the house and did a cut and shut on the handles. Worked well. I might give them a tidy up and paint one day, maybe.

Boat in the second pic now wants one
You should have asked, I've got one just like that amongst the mixed crap in the top of my toolbox. My dad asked me to machine a replica, then sold the thing it came off before I even returned the original.I finally got peed off sufficiently with a missing grease cap on my Boxford, that I paid £8 for a length of 16mm stainless, and made one. I've only had the lathe 33 years View attachment 399513View attachment 399514
So happy with the result that I'll now need to a second to replace tge scabby original. It's lucky that I have some BSB taps.
That's how it happens for me. Do something that works, others see it and, I've got to have one of those. It is the best compliment to haveBoat in the second pic now wants one
Further to this I think we need to as a group of people to stop believing we are more important or better than each other.
...or better than each other.
