The bottom one looks better than the original, Pete. Did you use a ball-turner?
What type of steel is that @Pete.?Made some little locking levers to replace some missing ones on one of my machines. Top one is original, bottom one I made.

Blimey. That’s an amazing finish for mild steel!Ordinary mild steel bar
I think the manual for this is at http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/singer/29k72.htmlView attachment 414992
I bought an old Singer 29K (1934) and have been sorting out some timing issues. Seems a lot better. I cut up some leather scraps to make a Poppy or two, and a Keyfob thing for my father.
1.2mm stainless from the look of it. Need to make a valence similar to the black one. marked out with sharpie line followed by a scribe.
Need to leave about 2mm for the fold and chop a bit extra out of the corners so they don't foul when folded.
Oh and you got to get it right first time. eek.
My knife isn't long enough to form it in one go so I do the middle a bit, then gradually bring in the ends etc.
Worked a treat.
Nice clean bends and the press tool allows me to remove all the fingers except one that fits the channel for the last bend.
Rinse. Repeat.
It's for a neighbour and he tells me it fits a treat.

That’s a nice job. I need to make something similar for the oven in our new house. My folder won’t form such nice tight bends tho unfortunatelyWell that was a blast from the past. Thanks for the "likes". I only respond since this property has changed hands twice since I made that thing and I am now doing odd jobs for the new owner. The kitchen has been remodelled and the appliance long gone so I was quite happy to recover this exact piece which the new owner asked me to dispose of for her...
That is a quality weld - especially when using an arc welder. I have looked at the final product whereby you have used the checker plate and 8mm steel . Beautiful !Not finished yet. Got to cut and weld the top (rusty sheet it is standing on) and cut/fit another shelf. All free scrap so far.

That looks superb!Airtight lid for 10 liter glass jar. I broke my head, but I figured out how to do it.
Silicone, Viton, PTFE gaskets and seals will be added later
