View attachment 421260It ca be raised about 1/3rd but after seeing some issues, dead branches and a lot of rubbing damage, 6+ stems.. decided best to remove.

Needed the practise and plan to do some more tomorow, hopfully take the tops and start on the trunks.

Trimmed a bit more, found some problems higher up but I found some reasonable unions for proper DRT anchor and Im almost high enough to start topping it. Next I want to jump across and take down the poplar? as I'm not keen to anchor on that.

Is it just a chance thing that can happen to them, or caused by something specific? I don't recall ever having an issue with that phone.

I did once pierce a battery while opening up a phone, it caught fire, quite ferocious and quick.

Usually happens when they're over or under-charged and, in the case of mine, left neglected for too long.
Annoyingly, I'd checked the state of charge a few times over the years, and it was fine for voltage, but I never put it into service.

Hidden from view, the 2 levels (for the grinders) have a oval slot in each for a wheel wrench.

I agree, it was just the comment and reaction to my post that I found strange. I wouldn't charge them in a box but I will keep them as safe from damage as I can by putting them in one.

The BMFA has a battery safety booklet that is an interesting read - I'm not sure if it recommends storing your lipos in a combustible foam and cardboard box!

In the model car world, it used to be, and probably still is, a requirement for batteries to be in safety bags/containers by the BRCA, or the insurance became an issue.

I doubt they recommend it but if the manufacturer deems it safe to post, who am I to argue? I will look at the BMFA as I am a member for the insurance and if they specifically state a storage method I will comply. The chaps down at the club didn't say anything about it which probably means it is acceptable. Being new at a club usually sparks off the 'you don't want to do that' brigade.

Eventually got round to putting the ring roller together. 10mm dia 316ss rolled into a 450mm diameter hoop in one pass made me very happy. Well worth making it so all three rollers are driven.

My powered pyramid rolls have an idler roller and it's always a pain to make sure it spins on thinner material or round bars, it just doesn't have enough friction, and the bearings are plain journal with oiler holes. Wish it was driven.

Was waiting for Royal Snail to deliver a master link. Taking the biscuit really, usual Postie goes on holiday, they don’t have a replacement ,so we had post delivered by a scab twice last week instead of the 6 times like normal

Doubtful… Bearing in mind the bottom rolls have half the diameter machined into them and the top roll has the other half, where they meet they are travelling at the same speed.

The rollers are plain bushed with oil holes,with a thrust bearings at the back. The idlers and adjuster all ride on ball bearings.

Found the aluminium today so made a couple of the balls from it and anodised them black.

Then thought I might as well make some of the extensions, only need 2 but made 4 just in case
