I've once had to dismantle a JCB mini excavator to get to an oil filter.Spent ages getting very frustrated with an inaccessible oil filter on a boat engine. Eventually get it undone popped it off and spun on the new one, topped up with oil, ran it up, engine off, tea break.
A local garage has one of those iseki mini tractors that has had a front and back actors added to turn it into a digger. To support this there is an external chassis added all around the tractor.I've once had to dismantle a JCB mini excavator to get to an oil filter.
They built the excavator first then decided to install the engine in it so the result was an oil filter which can't be replaced without removing the engine off, operation that can only be accomplished by removing the cab, the hydraulics and all the surroundings.
Can't imagine something worse

Clever, those JapaneseI love that statement "it doesn't measure anything - it just goes to a reassuring position when the engine is running"
Not just the Japs, pretty sure that Volvo back in the 80s did the same as people kept bringing them back to the dealer because the gauge kept going up and down or something like thatI made an LCD gauge to replace the 'fake' oil pressure gauge on my MX5. (On the MK2 there's a gauge in the dash cluster but it doesn't measure anything - it just goes to a reassuring position when the engine is running!
