Oh I know what they are like all right although I would say lots of them have plenty money, they just like keeping a hold of it........ you know what farmers are like......bailer twine and no money
Tough birds round your way. This fills a gap in the hedge my neighbour is growing after the fence panels blew down and he found the posts had concrete rot.

Yes.
Yes I did.
if your going to be lifting a gate on and off make one hinge pin longer than the other it makes it so much easier when putting the gate on againA little job that need a round tuit finally found one. Since I'm now not moving I need some way to remove the front garden gate so that my (to be bought) motorbike will slip in and out without too much fuss.
First job was to reverse the top hinge which had been inverted to prevent the gate from being stolen. There was a spate of this in the late 80s when the house was bought so it seemed like a good idea at the time.
No pictures other than the finished modification. Hinge-pin cut off, bar shortened, pin welded to a short piece of 3/8" MS then reattached to the bottom of the stub.

Not the best weld going, but I'm learning, and the LIDL inverter seemed to cope admirable. Probably not too much penetration but it's good and solid, at the moment.
How to secure the gate to make life difficult for the scrotes.
Take a piece of 2" angle and hack it about a bit.

With the addition of a small shutter lock we now have a solution. I just need to buy some wheels now...

Nice job and a tidy looking solution, but could you not widen the actual metal gate slightly and then move the hinge point so it's set behind the post on the house side so the gate aperture is completely clear when the gate is open ? That way you wouldn't have to lift the gate on and off every time.A little job that need a round tuit finally found one. Never liked the tailstock locking lever. Bit thin.
Non destructive so a bit of heat to remove.
One day il make a new lever but for now it will do.
New handles all around. Pitted badly.
One more for the back gear lock to go.

Put the finishing touches on this today. I thought you lot might appreciate seeing the crazy spectacle we’re treated to here, house moving! Another semester draws to a close, another painting ticked off
