Tried making some swedish christmas bread, recipe by this swedish blacksmith

I don't got the right rolling pin that he has got so I used a wooden meat pounding hammer. I think I could make a rolling pin like that though with a router jig. I think with the proper rolling pin it would not have puffed up as much. And mopping the bread with the treacle/julmust stuff was pretty messy. But it turned out good.

A mess of something beautiful. I don’t know why but the spray varnish has taken to clouding. Perhaps I need a new tin? Usually I give it a buff and the clouding goes away. All was going well until I hit a patch on the edge and everything went wrong. I’ll probably have to strip the whole thing or you’ll see the patched section. Bloody annoying.

Knocked up a rotating base today rather rough and ready but should do the job. All the materials salvaged from work skip

Main spindle is 80mm, rotates on a ball bearing to raise us the weld slightly and aid turning. Couple of m16 bolts to lock it off and can insert a m10 bolt in front to completely lock it if I need to do anythingheavy

Today I made a crochet hook for my sisters Christmas present. Made from brass with a holly handle with a dark stain to go with the brass better. The handle was completely hand formed starting with roughing it out with an axe before moving onto a chip knife before final sanding.

Not been able to do much lately because the yard needs sorting but managed to get an hour or two in reengineering some of my CNC plasma table bits.

Bought the carriage assemblies built up but not overly impressed with nut stacking and the narrow bearings running on the 50x50 box rails.



Crap and a sloppy carriage.



So doubled up on the bearings and fitted spacers in place of the ugly nuts, super smooth now with the double bearings and running of the semi polished stainless box





Belt rollers were a bit small leaving the belt a bit shy on contact with the toothed pulley on the motor, also with ugly spacer nuts.



Upped the size of the bearings and fitted 10mm shoulder bolts I had made to the correct length.

Made a Kawasaki which someone had
Hacked off the rear end with what only can be discribed as using a blindfold for eye protection whilst using a grinder.

Into something a little more appealing.
A couple of small alignment sleeves and rear hoop tig'ed on.

Terrible.
I had to eat them both to make sure they were suitable for Mini Me and I to eat more.

A bit of time was made to do some gold seizing.




As today is, to quote: "A blustery day" I had to warm the metal and warm the glue. Over night in the airing cupboard.

Yes, the gold leaf is missing from the oval ring. As the casting is not there. So it didn't stick.


I suppose I could of painted it. But after getting into loft of workshop to get the stuff. I was dam sure I was going to do it.
