Been making a bracket for the lathes control box this evening.
Thought I had some 25mm stainless box but it seems to have taken a walk although I have a vague recollection of the boatyard asking me for a short length, didn't realise 5m was a short length
I still had some 40mm box so used that instead.
I welded a couple of lugs onto the control box and then tried it in place (just clamped) to see if it was about the right height. It was perfect, the screen is right at eye level
It is made sicking out so far so that it can be swivelled round if I am wanting whilst getting tools set up.

How thick is that sheet, and do you think the swager could roll over thicker steel?

Not made, repaired. Cheap dial indicator that was broken (dial was loose, went every which way). I decided I should take it apart and see how one of these things worked. Put it back together and now it seems to be working. I wasn't intending to repair it, mostly just see how it worked since I thought if I took it apart, it was never coming back together... I suppose I didn't need to take it apart that far either, just putting the needle back on firmy should have been enough.

The dial re-zeros accurately every time so I think it's good. Doesn't feel like a quality indicator though, my 2nd hand german indicator is lightyears beyond this.

It is a drive dog for his Drummond's spindle to drive the first change wheel, the bump on the side is a magnet triggers the tachometer posted a couple of weeks ago.

After finding out that the magnet that was working perfectly fine before I mounted it properly had lost its magnetism and I didn't have one the same size I've made mk2 I could of just put the new magnet on the old one but I would no it was a bodge as the new magnet is thicker and smaller than the old one you can see the fit and finish is also a bit nicer than the first

It had lost its magnitism it wouldn't even stick to a pice of steel so I replaced it with a 8mm-6mm neodymium magnetYou shouldn't have welded it on
On a serious note, has it actually lost its magnetism, or does it just trigger the sensor now?
I had a sensor that triggered with the magnet on one way but not with the opposite polarity

And now I have it in use
It is so that I can still mess around with the CNC control at home to get used to it, change parameters/macros etc until I am ready to do the retrofit and it lets me get the Aluminium box down to the workshop and get it etched and painted.
