I made the kennel road worthy and ready for its mot tomorrow, new top and bottom ball joints both sides, all the rubber wishbone bushes, anti roll bar links, shocks and steering rack arms and track rod ends.
One of the new camber adjuster bolts had lost its thread in transit but managed to rescue one of the old ones, the rest had to be cut out with a recip saw, mobile suds saved the day

Saved this sapele from some banisters I replaced.
Turned it into a new bigger train table for the kids.
Still needs trimming and sanding.
Will have a ply top over the mdf eiher painted or detail burnt in.
Only screws used were for the internal batten. Mortise and tennons.

They are. Got a smaller one in the lounge already. Going to recover the table and will go upstairs to hopefully help contain the Lego that finds its way everywhere.Are they Brio trains? I had a table about that high and used to put all the bridge pieces end to end to try to make a ramp down to the floor. It never worked.
I have a plan to create two custom brio ramps to get from the table to the floor and back. May have to trim out some of the side to avoid the up/down off the table.

Bit of time to myself again. Family back and now resting.
So I played.
Left in Citric acid, "wizzed" on a Bench mounted wire brush. Only one needed anything doing to it. All that needed was to dress a burr back on the third one from the left, cutting flute.
The Die, that was found in the bottom of the box what the tools arrived in. It is a BSP.
The pruning saw. Striped, de-rusted and the handle cleaned. The teeth were set, not they needed much.
The handle came up very well, a dense wood, heavy for the size. But no details on the maker yet.
The Compass plane.
Out off all the tools I have recently collected, this was the one what let me down. I know the wooden plough plane tested me.
This one cleaned up well, the blade has taken an edge. But is so badly pitted to the point of bring useless. After de-rusting it, holes appeared in the blade and the cap iron. They are both approx. 3mm thick, so you see how much wasted there has been. The blade and cap iron are a odd size, this makes replacement unlikely.
Worse, when the cleaned wedge was inserted a crack has appeared running 80% through the body. I am guessing the blade and cap iron swelled with rust making the crack start. Now they both have been cleaned the small amount of force I used was enough to allow the crack to expand.
Shame.
But a fun few days.

Trimmed the top and legs with the tracksaw cleaned up te glue overspill and gave it a sanding. Rounded off all the edges too.
Ply cover over the mdf and a coat of danish oil.

yes I did. The hole pattern is accurate, so generally I drop machined pins into the holes to square things up. I made it less than a year ago and being able to throw steel onto it and it being AUTOMATICALLY square, is still a novelty!

This is where I had got to yesterday with my new column for the linisher.
Thought I had it done today, minus paint.
Nope. To front heavy when folded forwards into the vertical position, so I bolted a couple of bits of angle to the base. Then found that there isn't enough friction in the hinge to keep it in the vertical position due to the weight, so had to start bodging a stop of some kind.
I've pretty much got it but I'm not very happy with how it looks, might attach it with the grinder at some point. But, it'll work. Didn't get a pic of it finished as the evening was pressing on and the better half was waiting for me to have dinner.
