Trimmed the top and legs with the tracksaw cleaned up te glue overspill and gave it a sanding. Rounded off all the edges too.
Ply cover over the mdf and a coat of danish oil.

I got a few coats of the finest smooth red Hammerite money can buy onto my feed roller. It looks pretty good for a selection of offcuts.

thanks yes I did. The hole pattern is accurate, so generally I drop machined pins into the holes to square things up. I made it less than a year ago and being able to throw steel onto it and it being AUTOMATICALLY square, is still a novelty!

This is where I had got to yesterday with my new column for the linisher.

Thought I had it done today, minus paint.

Nope. To front heavy when folded forwards into the vertical position, so I bolted a couple of bits of angle to the base. Then found that there isn't enough friction in the hinge to keep it in the vertical position due to the weight, so had to start bodging a stop of some kind.
I've pretty much got it but I'm not very happy with how it looks, might attach it with the grinder at some point. But, it'll work. Didn't get a pic of it finished as the evening was pressing on and the better half was waiting for me to have dinner.

Was waiting on a delivery this evening so decided to do some preparation work to the lathe for the upcoming CNC controller retrofit. I have already fitted prox switches to the turret so this evening I ran about 6m multicore wire to the electrical panel and then I went hunting the workshop for a junction box but couldn't find one. Could have nipped to screwfix but as I was waiting on the lorry I couldn't leave so I picked up a chunk of delrin and machined one on the Chiron. Still have to fit the connectors but apart from that it is done.

Made another shelf for the lathe, took longer to paint it than make it!!
Now I have a home for my tool holders

Got the mini din rail connectors fitted, bootlace ferrules crimped on and wired up. That allowed me to get the tin work fitted with a slight modification, so now the lathe is back in action and will likely be getting used tomorrow.

They are. Got a smaller one in the lounge already. Going to recover the table and will go upstairs to hopefully help contain the Lego that finds its way everywhere.

I have a plan to create two custom brio ramps to get from the table to the floor and back. May have to trim out some of the side to avoid the up/down off the table.

I foolishly agreed to make two 5x8ft platforms without thinking about the size of my current welding table! They’re reclaimed 80mm box around the outside strung together with 40mm box but surprisingly easy to move around.

I haven’t switched the mig on in months and so it was odd to get back into it with probably the biggest steel structure I’ve made in a long time.
