A few years ago I got asked to survey measurements for a large stainless and structural glass balcony. I was also asked to quote as they would rather have the designing engineer make it.I was looking forward to this job. Turned into a minefield,
Not my job. Favor for a contact.
Did drawings and confirmed its green oak.
Been on the defensive from the get go. Get the impression they were expecting dried pse oak and were expecting a kit form.
Not me covering the front garden in sawdust.
Halfway through and I'm asked when I'm putting the diagonal braces in.
What braces says me.
Shown a pencil sketch the surveyor drew.
Not possible to as front crossbeam and posts don't line up.
Were told that once it's been Danish oiled it will match the front door...
I may have laughed.

Whilst there I saw the chippys ripping up beautiful oak flooring and other joinery out along with some natural stone flooring.
I asked why to be told the wood was too woody and the stone too natural.
I decided not to quote just in case the glass was too translucent and the stainless too metallic
