A local woman used to drive around in a big, old Merc with a couple of large stones on the rear parcel shelf, used to anchor a travel rug for her pooch on the back seat.
You could see the penny drop when I pointed out that, if she was in a crash, those stones would still be coming forward at 40/50/60 mph, possibly taking the top of her head off in passing.....
