Made my brother in law happy today helping him with his Willy's Jeep transfer box.
The castllated nut on the shaft wouldn't budge and he ripped the vice off his bench abusing it with a breaker bar! I've got a bigger vice and bench!
The original casing was cracked and badly welded in a couple of places so the green one above was bought to repair it.
He didn't bring the right socket with him so I had to modify a 33mm one on the lathe to fit in the yoke. Yes I know it should be an "American" size but it's all we had.
Got the nut hot with the MAPP gas and gave it a rattling with the air wrench but it wouldn't budge so got it hotter and tried the breaker bar and it moved!!!
We then pressed the shaft out with my 12 ton press that I haven't used in over 2 years
Here's the other side.
We then stripped down the old one to keep some of the parts as it's an original MB Jeep so quite rare.
He was very happy and promised me beer in the near future!
