I acquired a large pressure vessel off a mate who owns a plumbing business, so set to work taking out the bladder and cutting in half....(this was done a couple of weeks ago)

Got the missus to do her artistic bit and draw some insect shapes, and cut them out today. The coating was horrible and plasticky, but I think the shapes work quite well. Next to get a good fire in there to get the rest of coating off, and a clean up of the cuts and dross. Then a coat of high temp paint and see how it looks

Not actually made just repaired the N1 & rotor tach they both failed while stood waiting for turbine to come back from re build.
Started by checking N1 tacho drive generator one winding had gone O\C great simple replace still no go pinged wires to TB7 ok removed rear roof trims to access rotor tach generator checked this O\K pinged wiring to TB7 ok removed consul trim & pulled dual tach gauge out pinged all 4 wires from TB7 to gauge plug OK Strange pinged from generators through to plug on dual gauge seemed ok just though \ noticed a slight flicker of meter did test 2\3 times seemed ok scratch head remove plug shroud wires are heat shrunk over pin solder bucket gave Wires a good pull A & E came away both broken re made all 5 connections ran turbine Happy Days re assemble & fly to do T&B
The continuity tests was ok must have just been enough pressure pushing test pin onto plug to connect, had to pull harder than I expected to pull them out of Shrink tube

Ah,edited now!FOOTBATH,sheep are prone to all sorts of foot ailments,this one allows you to leave them standing for several minutes to soak,women do it with leeches.

How right you are @nick952 it was always an expensive hobby that's why we sold ours. Cheaper to fly some one else's
The cost has escalated to stupid levels in the last 4 years, over 600 usd for 3 bolts over 100k usd for main gb rebuild
A turbine build starts at 60k & escalates, for the little 300 a set of blades cost in the the region of £50k

Today I made two wheels for tyres that came off some wrecked plastic wheels.
You would think I come from Cuba or Pakistan such is my need to fix stuff that should be dumped.

Started with this



Cut the plastic wheel out and made a rim out slivers of 4" galv pipe which was just slightly too small so I let a bit into it.



Turned it to size on the lathe and fitted.



The discs I made with my modified bead roller and once set up it was a doddle.
The centres I made out of pipe and turned to accept 6301 bearings which will probably cost more than new wheels.



Cut to size and mig welded up.
Everything is galvanised so that didn't help.
The first half was fine as I could tack, then take off the tyres for welding but the second half I had to weld with the tyre on so had to cool the wheel in water with every weld.








Waiting on the bearings to arrive so I can finish them and give them a lick of paint.
They are destined for my next welding cart.

I like that a lot, and would do the same just because I could and have the tools to do so then look at the wheels with a sense of satisfaction for years to come. Big

I do get a real kick out of making something out of scrap.
What's the point for having a load of tools if you don't use them.
