Those are really handy at times.
I've split a pencil and replaced the graphite with a sharp 2,4 mm tungsten, great for using it on metal.

Yup. Don't regret buying it
Saves cutting a bit of timber to the size needed and it's much easier to keep it level compared to compasses.
Good idea re the tungsten actually
Come in handy on high gloss panels that don't hold a pencil line well.

A pencil taped to a block of wood works for me, make the block of wood the same size as your biggest gap or there about..

I just cut a really wonky line down some timber and then build the wall up to that line, it looks scribed and i charge extra for the "ristic" effect

Had a couple of jobs to do repairing haulers etc on boats this morning but got back to the stainless this afternoon.
Got the third box made up and also got the chute welded up and welded to the box.

I then got the last sheet of stainless onto the plasma and got that cut up, much easier to store a sheet in 20 smaller pieces

Garage has been a proper mess for a long time. These two old cabinets were from the kitchen, finally got them moved and a lot of stuff on them already. Much neater. Then theres a few stacks of new kitchen off cuts I saved from the skip to move somewhere useful. Need to sort through the bits on the floor. Half is old rubbish and the rest is bike bits as its in pieces right now.

Tried some 230 mm Klingspor cutting discs for the first time and I really like how well they perform.
This is from cutting roughly same amount that consumed a whole Dronco disc. My last Dronco, ever.

Came back home 55 minutes ago
Thought about killing the customer ,his father in-law , the wood workers and someone else down the street .
I have a question for you all
Did you ever think (corrige I've written thought ) to put a switch into the roof?

The installation was ready to being mounted on a drywall style wood cover .
Who made that was to lazy to cut some hidden lumbers without any structural function to have enough tolerance for the wires .
Nope he did ruin my work and put the switch box inside the roof .
I have to restart from zero .
They told it's my fault , that's not the first problem they caused me and to my family business...
I have my 32mm and adjustable wrench in the toolbox full time .
I'm thinking that's better leave them at home prior to kill someone .
Tomorrow I'll hopefully close this dammed job ..

If it doesn't match the family friendly rules I ask to the staff to remove or maybe better modify .

My petrol pump collecting friend dropped another of his finds in for me to repair.

Nine of the 5/16 Whitworth threads that hold the panels on had been stripped and needed welding up and retapping.

The side panels are back on after 40+ years. Now he’s going to get the lights wired up and pop a Gulf globe on top.

Usually no problem unless it is cast iron and then that can be a real nightmare. Once welded up some stripped threaded holes in a bandsaws cast iron lead nut, luckily I had serial taps and managed to get it re-threaded but it was hard going.

Got the last of the current batch of chutes and stripper boxes welded up this afternoon only for someone else to say they wanted one
Still have the tubing parts to cut and weld in place but that can wait for another day.

Should be easy enough - as long as you don't use hardox or stainless rods. [Don't ask ]

I used the TIG on these and the weld was no harder than the surrounding metal.
I’ve done the same with MIG and found those welds to be much harder to drill and tap.

I haven't come anywhere near to success with TIG [for a variety of reasons], so it would have to be MIG if the occasion arose.

Today I finished the weather vane I'd been making for my pal [see previous posts]. Now just to get it packed up [dismantled, of course ] and couriered down to him - I hope he likes it.....

I hate this lamp and was quite pleased when the Great Dane failed to put on the brakes and trashed it. Base was completely buckled and an expensive lamp was assigned to the next tip run. Mrs RDR was going to buy exact same replacement which put me in a dilemma - fork out more cash for the same lamp that I hate again or do i do something. So whipped up this base, its totally different from the original. 8mm plate with machined and welded fitting for the lamp to screw into and then machined some bar to weld onto the 8mm base that 22mm copper pipe legs will slot into. Then made some delrin feet. Mrs RDR happy, me not so but i still have £300 in my pocket!
