Crap picture but started making a basic guard for the ad blue tanks on our fleet of vauxhall movano's. Pump is mounted on the bottom of tank and being low down it prone to getting damaged when going off road on site,£700 for tank and pump

I've just made a woodturning lathe center steady whilst it's poured with rain and been perishing outside; what a change to spend a few quality hours in the workshop hiding from the world's problems.

This should making turning things like goblets easier whilst hollowing; it's a perfect sliding fit between ways ensuring accurate alignment. Just a nice project with something useful at the end costing very little in monetary terms.

PWM -Pulse Width Modulation- speed controllers work on AC circuits by outputting the same frequency as the input to control the speed of a brush style motor; effectively, the positive and negative output AC wave is made fatter (more power) or thinner (less power) whilst maintaining pretty much the same voltage at output as whatever is input. The degree of AC clipping is being controlled in the chip by the potentiometer. These controllers are efficient compared to non electronic speed control. The hard work is being done by the chip with the big heat sink on that little PCB in mine. PWM controllers won't work for conventional induction AC motors where the motor's speed is controlled purely by the AC frequency.

I'll get the actuators powered up tomorrow but looks like the boom fold one is about spot on for movement and the lift one looks OK as well, can tweak the bra kets to suit if needed

What a great chill out day getting to love my workshop again. The Mk1 eyeball still works, I measured centre of X axis by eye with a 6" rule and it's 0.3mm off centre of travel which doesn't matter a toss and I could adjust the scale but the table doesn't do the advertised 550mm of travel, 2.3mm short! The culprit is the Gib strip.......

I use something called CT90, for cutting threads and drilling. It helps a lot.

I got a bit nervous of grinding and metal thrashing right in front of my shiny new workshop window, so I grabbed an off cut of OSB and it fitted just right in the hole, so then I had a bright idea....

Flipped down for plenty of daylight.



Flipped up for grinding, welding or nasty work.

I use cutting oil I picked up from work work years ago (Cooks) - also trefolex is good for tapping and hole saws

wd40 squirty cutting fluid in an aerosol from Screwfix is handy for site work as it’s convenient and doesn’t spill everywhere!!

Another repaired Tig welder.
Fortunately not that complicated.
Secondary snubber failed.
Lot of grind inside.
Changed MOV, cleaned inside and coated circuit boards.
Most difficult part was to weld brocken coolant reservoir.
Some material from a empty stinky window antifreeze concentrate does the job.

Made my car backfire yesterday
I was on a super road when a an idiot crossed the road .
I've changed gear from 5 to 3 keeping the brakes pushed .
Almost thought to have lost a connecting rod.
Those are the advantages to have a carburator ,no electronic and open muffler
This thing made me smile
