Finished, new edges dressed on the blade.
Due to the worm damage and the rust it is now a show only tool.
Carefull, that's a rabbit hole to suck you in?The knowledge I gain from your posts TYA is amazing, and the stuff you come across is jealousy inducing... and now I want a mill dressing tool for no other reason than I know they exist and I don't have one.
You going for the Doc Brown school of workshop design? Looks good though.View attachment 279087
Finished welding up the frame for my pseudo 'tool wall' and made a bracket to mount it on the back of the old bureau; took some sash cramps and harsh language to get it screwed on the rear if it single-handedly.
Annoyingly the spanners have become magnetised and rather than hang perfectly vertically on their screws they swing towards each other and congregate - only bugs me because I spent so much time spacing them out!

Couple of jobs today for the Cheetah Catamaran I am presently fitting out.
First was squaring off some 30mm round stainless to 21mm. It will be used to join the steering rods which are 25mm OD and 2mm wall square. A good tight hammer in fit is required so I had to mill it. I used an old but excellent Hartford Super Spacer to do the indexing.

I then popped it into the lathe to cut a radius on the corners and part off.

Then I put some 20mm thick Acetal into the Chiron and cut some square holes, this will be used as guide bushes for the steering rods.

Yes, hydraulic ram but twin engines so link rod between them with 4 of the bronze/stainless steering joints I make to allow for individual trim/tilt if required. Not hydraulic steering?
Started a small shepherds hut project, 3" scale or near as.
Wheels on temporary hubs to check for scale/size.

Most of the ones I have done in the last few years have had HyDrive rams which have the rod protruding either side and thus I just have a link rod with the ends attached to the ram and engine at either side. The problem however is, although they are rated for the power, they are heavy on the steering. This latest Cat will have a conventional Kobelt ram and thus the rod needs to go right through from engine to engine. Because there is a drop down to the engines (higher deck on this model ) then I need to have a 30mm drop on the end of the rods and thus it needs to be joined in the middle so they can be fed through the bushes.Very nice, I imagined those God awful steering cables for a moment, nice work.
