After they figured out how to lift the locking handle of the food waste bin to open it, I started with a simple wooden open-top box to stop the handle from lifting and hence the lid opening. That fixed it for a few days but they soon worked out they could lift the food waste bin out of the wooden box, so I added a hinged bit of 2 by 1 wood over the top with a simple cabinet latch (as I had one - one of these).
It took them about a week to work out how to undo that latch, flip the hinged bit of wood over and pull the food waste bin out of the box. I then added the buckled lashing strap around the whole lot to stop them getting the food waste bin out even if they undid the latch. That lasted a few months, but last night they finally figured out that if they lifted the entire wooden box with food waste bin into the garden and thrash it around until the steel buckle on the lashing strap loosened and then they could undo everything else.
Hopefully with the shacked latch and the wooden box being bolted to the wall, they won't overcome this one!

Had a close look today, it was rougher than the surface of the moon but with pinholes in every lump. I wet sanded with 240 and 400 back to primer.
I am quite happy with the result. 1mm tip in the gf3 with 9% thinners.

Yesterdays job was finish the gantry, added side plates since i widened it and a few lengths of 50x5 for the trolley to run on. And all good ready for the lifting out the engines and then the boat off the trailer. happy days.

I'm fairly sure they're not bears (I don't think there are many of them in Gloucestershire!), but I don't know that they are foxes. There are definitely foxes and badgers in the area behind our house, so it's almost certainly one of those; foxes just seemed more likely to me. I've finally bitten the bullet and ordered a camera trap for the garden, so when that arrives I might get a better idea!

Further to this post today MrsG and I manoeuvred the concrete planter into position. It's heavier than it looks, took 3 of us to lift it out of the back of my truck when I brought it home.
Didn't start taking pictures early enough. Basically it was already on a rough trolley, so we wheeled it down the garden.
Shoved it up a couple of scaffold planks, resting over a saw horse, which pivoted over onto another saw horse to leave it in a position the same height and next to the top of the column/plinth.
Then a length of timber through 2 ratchet straps allowed us to shoulder it into position.
All in all it went very well for a weakling with a dodgy back and his wife.

I think that the cotter pin might slow them down...for a while.
Badgers are an interesting possibility, since they're quite dexterous.
As to bears, here in Maine we get an occasional bear in the yard. Here is a sequence taken by my trail camera in our back yard of a small black bear heading toward our bird feeding station. This particular bear also visited my neighbour's yard, and he got a photo or two as well. This one appears to be a young bear...maybe only about 100kg or so. Adult black bear males get much larger, often three times that weight, with the record being almost 500kg, if I recall correctly. On this particular visit our suet feeder went missing. I found it later in the woods, cleverly and neatly opened and contents missing. Another neighbour's beehive also underwent a raid that night.
One of these days, I might redesign the bird feeding station to resist a wider range of critters, and I'll probably solicit some design suggestions from the forum.

Made natural light come into our bedroom, by one of these new modern fangled window things.
Unfortunately, I measured up the hole, bought the window, then discovered French double glazed units are 50mm wider than advertised, and 30 mm higher, I knew it was going to be a battle, but some @The_Yellow_Ardvark motivated me to pull my finger out and 4 hours later....
I've cleaned up now and even cleaned the windows.
Daughters room tomorrow.

No I didn’t make the chassis it’s a Wasp F350 kit. https://www.offroadkartplans.com/store/F350-Kart-Rolling-Chassis-p149205747
It has a centrifugal clutch running a chain and sprocket on one side and a cable operated disc on the other. They do have an option for a variomatic transmission as well.
