On the section through the mould you drew, if the part between the bead and the edge is covered over, it will trap air, no matter how much excitation you give it. If you can suspend the bead another way, such that the full perimeter is exposed to the air, you can trowel it to keep your arris sharp.

Consider casting in a couple of closed-ended tubes. You can then have stainless dowels projecting from the top of the pillar on which the cap sits to help locate and secure them.

I'm going to drill a series of holes atop the bead and use admix to deaerate it.

The sticky out section will sit inside the piers to guard against lateral movement.

Will do. Going with 4 parts washed plastering sand, 1 part white cement and 1/2 hydrated lime. Probably a bit of mesh halfway up, maybe chuck some fibres in. Haven't got a poker so I'll use and SDS held against the mould.

If you have a decent mains pistol drill or a drill press on the table, fix the drill securely and put as big an Allen key as you have in the chuck ..long leg free out of chuck tighten the chuck by hand then go to tightening each hole in the chuck in succession of a line of six holes , so you get it as tight as humanely possible ....they make good oscillating vibrators and can leave you hands free whilst you fill the mould .

Question :-
Why do you need a shoulder at the base of the cap ..if it is flat you can press round bar frame with small centralizing spigots on the outer edge / or use half round beading into the wet mix to make the rain lip

Put the bead on a welded up removable frame so you tap /push it down in the the filled mould as it's vibrating then clamp it & stop the vibrator once it flat across the base oft he cap leave the frame in place for 36 hrs till the mix has gone off

Of course! You would need special movements for that face.

Ive an outdoor clock to make for someone, when I asked how they wanted the numbers displayed they couldnt decide so said to decided myself but they want it to be unusual, I theink youve just solved my dilemma.

Not today but a couple of months ago,but I’ve just gone to site to photograph the finished oak gates,I made the hoops,forged the hinges,latch and drop bolt,plus braces.
Much credit due to the superb carpentry.
