Made a mild steel m10 thread. Its centre and pilot drilled 3mm, most of its length, so it should be easy to preserve the centre location when I drill it out. Parted off 9mm long.
The plan is, its half the length this is thick. I will flip it over and tig up the thread on the chuck side - may end badly, not tried it before! Then I can drill out this screw down to the weld, retap if needed, mount on spindle, face the other side and drill 4 new, non interfering holes.
