Great idea but dont forget to cut those bolts down!!!! I can imagine the pain of catching a knee on them ........................
already done, swapped them round so the nut is on the inside too....

It's not a mini lathe as such, though, is it? It should be rigid enough to part off slowly with a narrow blade surely?
...or may even be easier/less chatter with a wider blade....
4mm 26mm blade. What whidth parting tool are you using ? I used to have exploding blade issue on my old lathe , I use the insert type holders on steel , iron and brass (3mm insert 32mm tall holder) and HSS on ally brass and plastics (3mm wide blade about 1" tall in chunky holder).
My HSS parting tool can jam the lathe with out exploding and the insert ones the insert generally fails by fracture(I think i have managed to get one or two to go blunt but mostly fall apart is the end of them).
Stu
that seems pretty hench , I like to retract often for chip clearing , I use rapid cutting oil on steel and wd40 on ally.4mm 26mm blade.
Judging by the amount of shavings it looks like you carved that from a solid blockFinally finished with this sodding carpentry.

I've ran out of screws so it's just clamped up at the moment. It's going in my brewery, the mash tun and kettle will sit on it, with outlet pipes passing through the gap in the centre. It might be a bit overbuilt for that, it'll hold maybe 50kg at most, I reckon it could hold 10 times that easily.
you don't need to weave.
droo your volts a tad. Most FCAW wire made run best between 24-28VThat’s just a quick shot.
runs about 30V drag without pulse.
gas was about 14L.
nice one.
