Firepit is warm. I have been tidying my logs. Had this old angle frame, tied fence mesh to it. Its a bit small could have done with being longer or taller.
Cracking on with another air cane and this is what happens when you are up against 150 year old threads, only the two parts that were originally made together, fit together.
Absolute arris of a job, the part on the left is case hardened and trying to recut the thread was a non starter, in the end i found myself stretching the bushing part over it, worked in the end but a real chew on. This is as far as it would go without tools and it needs to function hand power only and close right up tight.
After my fantasy wish yesterday of thinking I could buy a suitable laser engraver with a totally unrealistic budget I set to today and adapted a high speed spindle to fit the little mill. What a difference at 20,000 rpm, the .5mm ball end cutter didn't snap like the proverbial carrot. I am going to have to make a different bracket though as this is at the limit of travel.
I must say, the engraving itself came out lovely, very crisp and well defined.
It works fine Brad and I can get it up to 28,000 rpm if necessary, I just fell over with my math (again) and didn't make the bracket long enough, soon rectify it though. I will make another but longer :-)
