Caravan Utilising Nomadic Traveller

There's long been a "rivalry" of sorts between BSAC, British Sub-Aqua Club, and PADI, Professional Association of Diving Instructors.

I don't hold with any of it and frankly I don't care which organisation a diver has trained with. I generally dive by myself but if I dive with a buudy all I ask of them is that they dive safely and keep a good watch on their air consumption. On the occasions when I've been interrogated about my training by one of the old guard I keep a straight face and tell them I trained with Caledonian Underwater Nautical Training.

The looks on their faces when the penny drops is priceless .

Got the "small parts" storage sorted today:

All my nuts, bolts, washers, wood screws, fuses, clips and pins and everything else of that nature is now separated according to type. Still have a few to label but the bulk of it's done and there's enough empty trays to allow for expansion:

Anal? Quite possibly. Easier and more efficient? Most certainly .

I had two such bits & bobs racks , got them from B&Q over 27 yrs ago the metal frame work on mine is super thin steel poorly jointed. , I ended up taking them apart and soldering each joint Replaced them about 23 yrs ago my lass played merry hell for each plastic click on drawer set was about £18 each two stacks of 8 drawers with to double sized ones at the bottom . The drawers have age hardened on this last set ands several have had then pull lip ripped out leaving nasty sharp edges .

So I'm thinking of a final renewal of all my trays ( I'm 74 ) & am looking for a set that will last say ........ 20 years to see me out as ashes
How do you reckon your new drawers will fare???

I'm 65 (today) and I'm thinking like that!
Lathe gearboxes are just waiting for the grease delivery today and hopefully they should last me out, though I may have to buy some more hydraulic oil

My dad's old iMac (2009, 21.5" A1224), too good to chuck in the landfill so I bought one of these display board kits, and a Meanwell power supply to turn it into an external monitor. I've now got a pile of bits that I stripped out (if anyone wants them give me a shout):

I was rather surprise when it actually worked, and even more surprised that I actually found out how to change the display menu from Chinese to English:

The removeable post is a good idea. Will there be a drainage hole at the bottom of the socket and some gravel under it to keep water from building up in the socket and freezing?

I'd say drill a decent drainage hole anyway. There's not much water that's scummier than that which squirts out of a sealed post hole when you accidentally drop the post in a bit quick.

Do you have depth to make the socket engagement deeper into the floor? It looks like it'll probably push over with a good shove unless it's in a substantial concrete block. The ground anchor looked a bit on the shallow side too, but not sure how much extra depth there was on the concrete you got round it

Almost finished to completely rewire after having reverse engineered a 1986 CNC milling machine at my workplace
Completely replaced the electronics at exception of the SCR fire controller that feeds the 10 HP 380V DC motor that runs the spindles
Working 10H a day for the last 2 weeks just on this machine, still accomplishing my normal tasks at work.
Completely destroyed but at least some satisfaction

Finally got in the workshop after a week of trying to, busy & having a mountain of paperwork that had to be done!
1 hour this evening made some rings up 3' to be welded onto the 90° bend as collars.
Just need to give them a polish up and weld them on. Tomorrow evening hopefully!

I got another shower head, the head twists off the handle, it also has a stop valve. Stop valve is fine for my USB powered portable shower but not suitable for a mains indoor shower. Drilled out the stop valve, so it is always on.
The head twisting off is useful, my other one has a ~4mm hole that forms a nice jet, good for cleaning stuff, and is less restrictive than the shower head holes, so the effect on flow is minimal.
This one had a slot, which gave a rubbish weak spray pattern.

It now has a brass M8 thread, epoxied in. Then a 3.5mm brass jet. Roughly 12mm length parallel bore, to get strong parallel jet of water.

My epoxy above appears to be leaking and getting worse - only a matter of time before it shoots a lump of brass out with 20psi behind it The brass was grooved to increase its gripping area and rough sanded. I suspect thermal expansion is the problem when it gets warm. Is there a better adhesive for this?

Today a quick one I have been meaning to do for years, chopped the tang off my lathes MT2 drill chuck arbour. That gives me 15-20mm more usable travel and does not hinder its removal.

Car a bit safer... I'm aware modern brake pads have a strip of steel as a wear notification. When they get low they should squeal as it rubs the disc.
I remember garage pointing them out when discussing brakes, last time it needed rear calipers. We estimated the front pads would last a while longer than they have! Seems I no longer had the squeal indicators.

Last night heard a low rumble on the way home, it was the unworn rim of the discs rubbing against the pad backing! Very low.

New pads fitted, these are the old.

ECP had three options, I went with Brembo at £61, probably should have got the cheapies at £35 as the discs are not in great shape, back side of the discs appear to not be wearing evenly. Could use a bigger lathe to recut them flat.

Perhaps I could spin them up on the car and use grinder.

Appears my rear pads now need doing, I didnt get the squeal expected from a wear indicator, just straight to a rumble of metal on metal, so that will be todays job.

What pads are recommended for general road use that I can pick up from a shop like ECP?
