Just a thought Hood. Would there have been any advantage if the pods were wider at the transom, there would have been more bouyancy. Most of the time pods have been put on here is to compensate for extra weight, just to lift the rear out of the water and improve running. I suspect that the outboards will be lighter than what was taken out
The reason they are going to outboards is that the Bravo Stern drives were costly and problematic and also the inboards were tightly packed in each hull and a nightmare to work on. The outboards and alu used will be roughly the weight of the two inboards, then there will also be the weight of the diesel donkey engine to add to that. The buoyancy of the pods should make up for the weight being further back and I am actually hoping it lifts the rear a bit, time will tell.
