The marks on the left are where the actual chimmy run inside the breast.

It is funny though, stuff like that is the ONLY bit of work I miss :-)

Well, completed this notice board for Village over the weekend, 42 x48 ins ish with glazed opening doors, did it for free just materials paid for , powder coated steel board for magnet pins , material sapele, Iroko legs, 2 man lift, rear of board has rosewood cross to dress up plainess

Almost finished today, just have to make tie rods for the steering which I will do at the workshop.

Got the uprights welded in, some 20mm round welded to the edge and a wedge support at the port side to support the hinged section of the table, also had to make supports for the hinged section where it comes down on the ring deck.

Hopefully the boatyard has done the GRP work on the other boat I have been making pods for and I can get them fitted when I get back tomorrow then I suppose next weekend I will be back up the road to do the second Cheetah pictured earlier.

Not sure what you are referring to, if it is the pic in the last post I made then that is 5083 Alumnium.
The welder is an EWM Phoenix 330 Expert and the wire was EWM 1.2mm 5183.

I was pottering Mini Me needed a battle axe for her Halloween outfit.



Old square timber wizzed down on a lathe, that's the handle.

Off cuts off floor board hacked out sanded down and you get 2 axe heads.

Slow match used to make fake lashings.


Why were they not finished with paint etc.?

Simple last thing we need is that trouble maker neighbour calling the police. Again.

Legs are 100mm box, 5mm wall with 10mm feet and tags welded on for bracing

Cross beams lifted into place to tack on the mounting brckets

A friend (no longer with us) said to me that I should make a jib over the lathes and mills to lift things like chucks and material on and off them. I laughed and said I can manage fine but now 10 years on I know what he was meaning and I need to seriously think about it as even the 10" chuck is getting heavy now

Been a long day today, boring holes, hanging upside down trying to stretch my arms into the depths of the pods to get the bolts in etc but I got there, thankfully a friend was on hand to help me out.
Afraid it was dark by the time I finished so pic is not the best.

Aye you don't have to tell me, every day gets harder especially when you are climbing up and down ladders in and out of boats

It's a little tight in there so if anything heavy needs lifting I'm stuffed. I have a very large bit of bar to lift into the chuck and while I can lift it (just) there is no way I can get it in the chuck. I also need to lift the head off the mill, again no chance without some sort of lifting gear so it is going to get some use and as a bonus give my back an easy life

I found that f.h.brundle does them and not too bad a price
As they are 3mm thick too
