Would it be practical to put a viewing port in the bottom of the pod so you could have a look at any potential prop fouling?

The outboards bolt to the back of the pods so the props are well astern of the pods. If they get fanned up they can raise the outboard and lie on the chute and cut the rope off, or that is the theory anyway

With kind help from Andrew Mawson and his magical plasma cutter I made a couple of these. It's a carbide scraper grinding/lapping machine for the scraping class. Based on the wet grinders I got from the boot fair I drew up a quick CAD design for the cnc plasma to cut out the sheet. then I bent it up on his box/pan folder and mounted the grinder into the frame so it was held vertically with adjustable angle.

Old ally sign cut on the cnc plasma. we weren't sure if it would work with the paint on but it did cut it perfectly.

Folded up on the folding machine. I messed up the design a bit so the lugs got bent and I had to straighten them out later ops:

wish id had a chute when it happened to me, not nice leaning out over transom in a heavy chop trying to cut rope.

Most don't as they have tables but they can still get out a fair bit and they just use a sharp knife tied to a wooden handle to reach the extra distance.

Had to quickly fab up a replacement part for a bandsaw that decided to have a lay down while it was being repositioned.

Nothing special but will keep a machine up and running.

Yeah it's a big gap but it's such a low powered and slow turning machine plus the discs are safe to touch when turning so there's no risk. The gap is that big in order to get the pivot bolts in and also to allow easy changing of the disc. It's not an issue.

One pod almost finished, just have the sloped top to weld in but that will have to wait until I get the hatch as I do not know the dimensions that the cutout needs to be so can't plasma it yet.

Also got the rest of the Alu cut for the second pod.

Bit of a blobby bit at the right hand end of this but that bit will get ground anyway.

Rest of it is reasonable though

what is the material thickness. last one I played with, sides and bottom were 8mm, transom and outboard mounts were 10mm gusseted. That cat had twin 150's on it, can't recall the max engine size it was rated for.

It is just 6mm, seems to be fine at that thickness, it is what all the others are.

Thanks, it is getting there, not used the EWM for a while as all recent welding has been stick or Tig.

I've been making up an end barrier in the cubicle house for the cows to extend the wall at the top end of the passage way.

The threaded rod to secure the base plate and wall plate is secured in with resin - awesome stuff. All the parts were cut to size and then it was all fitted up in place before welding up. The round tube is inserted into both the post and flat bar on the wall.

Just need to get a plastic insert cap to close the top of the post off.

It was actually Friday, and the shelves themselves went in on Saturday after the paint had dried. Easier and quicker than the last set.

Time is against us unfortunately, as the cows are getting shifted in to this side of the shed tomorrow. There's still concrete to be placed around the base of the post and a row of bricks to go back in, so hopefully save it for a few years. I think my mate will be looking at a full revamp of the cubicles and feed barriers in the next 5 years as the current stuff is the originals and the shed is 40+years old. So if the post and bars last 5 years we'll 've happy enough.
