The heat affects it slightly but as there is very little oxygen it doesn't catch fire and just sort of melts it slightly before it again solidifies. If you remove the plate at a later date you see marks but no real damage.Do you weld that wheelhouse plating in sit-ups it looks? What about heat on the structure behind?
my Berlingo is tragic in the snow, took me 1.5 hrs to get home when normally it would just be 30mins. I thought when I navigated the couple of miles of backroads and reached the main road it would be fine but it was little better.
Aye, they would make it a bit better but for the few days a year we get snow it is probably not worth it.Get Winter or All Weather tyres fitted - they make a huge difference.![]()
They do ok, put in the hours though but the main reason is that he got the wheelhouse made a specific way because he was adamant he would only ever have a davit. Now, however, he is feeling the back ache with working deeper water so the roller is the way to go but the wheelhouse design meant it wasn't an option without months of alterations so a new boat was the best option. The old boat is already sold without even advertising, someone in Wales must have heard through the grapevine that it may be for sale so messaged and asked, made a trip up and put a deposit on it, it heads off in April or May I think.Somebody's making money![]()

Aye but at 100hp and 50mph legal speed I need some excitement from the sliding round cornersThey outperform Summer rubber if it's 7 degrees or lower.![]()
What sort of settings are you using for the mig welding? I had a play with my new hand spool tonight, I was up quite high on the mig settings, 230 plus amps I think (old Cebora transformer mig), the sound was changing from spitting to humming - I guess that's spray transfer? The problem is I have little control over wire speed, if I drop the dc volts the motor stalls, same with current. Maybe a pwm type speed controller might do it. Anyway, on 240 supply it was taking my 30A breaker out..Got the base plate for the hauler cut and two rectangular pieces as well which would be properly cut to the required angle once it was known.
The hauler on this one is a 16" Seawinch and the design of them is not the easiest when getting the alignment of the hauler box worked out. The whole hauler has to be fully assembled and bolted to the base plate and it must weigh upwards of 40Kg and trying to balance that whilst moving and tilting to get the alignment for the rope correct is a real pain.
Eventually we got the angles right and that allowed me to remove the hauler and get the box welded up, the base plate is 600mm x 500mm x 8mm 5083 and the sides also 8mm 5083.
Box welded in.

Hauler properly fitted but the ejector knife block is 2.5mm too high so I will have to skim that off before I can bolt that down.
