Tell the builders The felt is not there to keep the rain water out..thats the tiles job...The felt is a vapour barrier.parents had the same thing for months on end, eventually the builders stripped most of the tiles off...and found a tear in the felt that hadn't been noticed and was letting the water in and allowing it to percolate down.
well thats what the old man told me anyway...they did something with the felt and no more leaking...*shrugs* <not a roofer>
I like that idea, if you position the cooker hood carefully it will double up as a welding fume extractor !Cheers - it's only a year old (and the roof leaks, but the builders are coming back )
I wanted a steel worktop - imagine what a great workshop and welding table all that space would have made
Try a firm called Mouser, US equvalent of RS, they stock all sorts of wired and wonderful components in strage values. They have an office somewhere near Highwycombe where goods are sent to then forwarded on to so you don't have to deal with customs etc.On the roof, they're due back tomorrow.
On the plasma cutter, jeez - these diodes are bl**dy hard to find. They're "ultra fast schottky 2000V diodes" and the closest equivalent I could find are NTE525s.
Nobody stocks them in the UK so I've had to order six (minimum quantity) from RS, via their American stockholders. £23 and ten days delivery
Still - if it fixes it, it'll be worth it. And if anyone else suffers from a similar problem, there will be four spare diodes available!
Oh, and local Mapins stock the 1k/5W resister for 89p so that's not a problem.
VultureFirst dibs on the cutter if you fix it?

I ordered a load of parts for a Thermin I'm building, it's the only musical instrument you play without touching it

Wonder if they are the same or diff to the NTE525?
Yep - tried them (and everyone else on the first two pages of google)
Hmmm... the specs seem very similar to the RP1...
for example I got some RCBOs, identical to MK RCBOs (only diff was toggle switch plastic was grey not black and Test button was blue not black) otherwise fonts all the same, clips the same....chinese items £8 from a UK seller, MK (made in china) £33+ (prob made in the same factory on the same lines...)
Don't forget the Proctologists appointment, I can see the reminder for your appointment stuck to your fridge!
Diodes, resistor, + board burnt, resin gone down to glass sub structure, carbon is a great resistor what started the problem get a new board have a shout

I haven't got a musical bone in my body but I think there pretty cool so gonna have a go at building one, I've got all the parts, just need the motivation to get off my backside and get on with it !!Love them Parm. Star Trek and so on. Never got around to doing one myself though. I dare not start one.....just in case.
