Grinding multiple points seems like a lot of work, could you not just grind the form out of one block of steel then heat each blade and beat them into the former?

The effort that goes into producing a perfect blade like that is beyond me. The finish on that knife is extraordinary, that is an exceptional example. I don't have the patience and will stick with useful "practical" tools for the time being.
That is drop dead gorgeous but pattern welded "Damascus" is a bit too gimmicky and I am not convinced there is any practical advantage to it.
Thank thank thank youThere isnt, even proper damascus isnt as strong or hardenable as your lorry spring........Theres a lot of folk lore built up around damascus and samurai swords....its all B***s, the modern steels are much better, cleaner, more homogenous and repeatable.
That's has always been my opinionI think that damasteel etch the pattern on.......if its the steel itself it proves how inhomogenious it is....its like wrought iron

Never understood how to heat treat stainless steelI think they have a patented hot pressed powder billet construction. Sounds weird but I guess it's as solid as steel can be. Stainless steel at that.
One assumes it will be as strong as any modern SS knife so my only objection to that particular pattern steel would be price!
Thank thank thank you
Ive argued this many many times with wood workers.
If its non-magnetic you can only anneal which is quenching from 1050oC and if done in air leaves it blackNever understood how to heat treat stainless steel
The swedish damasteel is not much good, thats why people like James Purdey use it on their £100,000 + shotguns
My dad wanted to have his (now mine) Purdy Re Barrelled with Damascus. It was 30k about 30yrs ago.
