Aquire'd the new project today, a Thwaites 4000 AWD dumper with a Petter PH2 hand crank engine.
I knew the engine was a bu**er to satrt before I got it, so I had a bit of a investigate and a few swings on the handle to no avail. So decided to tow it and it started and ran after it had warmed up one of the cylinders was concise table cooler than the other indicateinv this cylinder wasn't fireing.
I split the de-compressors and it would start no probloem with the handle on the one good cylinder. First point of investigation had to be the injectors, removed these witch turned out to be easy feat due to our old freind "galvanic corrosion". After a struggle got them out and mounted them back on the injector pipes upside down, give it a wind and only one injector working.
Right knackered injector, swap injectors no difference. So it looks like it's the fuel pump for that cylinder, could it be seized? Remove inspection cover and the pump plunger is operating fine.
Any sugestions on the best step forward should I get the pump recond or could it be something simple, without the injector on the pipe, fuel dose squirt out.
After I get the engine running I intend to fit electric start, but apart from engine and brakes it seems prity mutch good to go it will probably get some paint and leaks fettle do but I want it to be an ongoing functional project.
