Mate of mine uses a big air-cooled torch to make bike tanks, which seems a good way to make the work a good deal less user friendly to do.

As I said I can do the same job with the 26, I'm not one of those must have a 20 torch types really,if you can weld you should be able to weld with any torch to a decent standard.

Well yes I agree you should be able to but my philosophy is more about making life a bit nicer. Top of the range unit like yours with pedal deserves a lovely WC setup

Guess its quite possible to strip and rebuild a bike engine with a 1/2 drive socket set, but just nicer to do the job with 3/8 drive.

Richard it seems to be the must have for people these days but awesome stuff has been done with them over the years with bigger torches.
In my opinion learn with the big stuff as one day you may have to use it.

I have 20 size torches and equivalent watercooled to 26. The 20 can be used for almost everything, while on some jobs the 26 simply wont fit. Certainly possible to use 26 for almost everything you can do with a 20, but where space is restricted things are easier with a smaller torch.
