How about a 'hand impact wrench' (would have put a link in if I knew how). I have used them on hi torque nuts with great results, haven't had one I couldn't undo, crank pulley bolts a speciality. Not cheap at £30 off fleabay but got me out of many sticky situations.

These days I don't tend to slacken nuts off before jacking a wheel on vehicles, even the cordless gets nearly everything off.

Those hand impact wrenches might be useful in a pinch but I can't imagine them having anywhere near the capability of a decent impact wrench, at least not without spending a long long time hitting the things.
Big price difference though...!
