No problem. Any idea how I can clean the glass up. White vinegar didnt touch it



Edit; solved, a bit of worn scotchbrite did the trick. Possibly lead from proper petrol

Been after one of these for 7yrs... only ever see used with cracked glass bowls, never with the filter inside. Took a punt on this one, looked to be unused. And it is
Took some separating from the rubber seal, glass is cloudy, inside is like new. Happy days

Sugar? I’d forgotten about this, we use Salt, any reason for Sugar

I have had better results when cleaning fuel systems glass with sugar. But it does need a bloody good wash through.
But it does shine the glass well.
But don't cross contaminate anything else with the dirty fluids.

First eye test ever, he was reading a list of what is wrong, thought it would never end...

I have a scar on my eye from a light bulb exploding and getting glass in it, he said 1mm higher and it would have affected my vision

I went for Land Rover frames, ive already heard all the jokes

I found one (M&W) at the bootsale some years ago cheap, Didn't notice til I got home that the rule is imperial only!!

I found a combi square with a 24"/600mm rule a week or two later!

Fram fuel filter. Not seen one for sale in the UK, a few glass bowls in the states, but they are always chipped on the lip, so they leak, as mine does.

Got it stripped down, even the rubber is good.

Bowl is currently steeping in white vinegar

If you are going to use it with petrol, that rubber will fail pretty quick - modern fuel will rot it in double quick time.

Hired a "Ford Kuga" type car and got upgraded to a Volvo XC60 with leather and loads of toys for nowt

Edit it's the B5 diesel mild hybrid with 235 bhp and supposedly 0 to 60 in 6.7secs. I've got the wife and kids in it so not really booted it but seems quite lively. Getting about 40mpg according to the 'puter. I like the heads up display on the windscreen.

A new marking square from banggood: 4 days for delivery from china!

I bought it because i struggle to accurately mark around curved edges of box section with a standard combination square: it always ends up being a half mm offby the time ive done four sides - worse on CLS

Got this small bundle yesterday.



Found on the path by my house.

But it has 3 foam pads, great for French polish and sanding sealer.

On heavy section box and the like the steel section is curved and a pain to square off.
Photo below of a wide square I have for the same purpose but it's not wide enough and also some 100mm x 10mm thick wall box that shows the curve better.
If you try and square off the curve with a standard square, you have no reference.
