Because I don't use them

Something that's unused isnt useful.

I wouldn’t be without mine, but that’s me not you! And I’m about to shift a couple of my wood butchering machines for the same reason. Good luck with selling the lathes - that Smart and Brown looks the nuts, I think they were toolroom lathes, with big headstock bearings and helical gears.

If I can slip this purchase past the wife il be enjoying one of the most iconic synths of the 80s for the next month or two

No one's interested though. Hate eBay but looks like that's where it's heading

i want to eek out our time in this house. Renting from a family friend and it's cheap detached and in a quiet village. Once the wife's finished with uni we can look at buying. If we buy now we will be stuck in a shoebox

It's opened up the downstairs room for us and made it a nicer place to be
5 of us in a dormer bungalow so space is at a premium

Had a nice score at the boot fair this morning. Two Henley Solon soldering irons - 55w and 60w, three wesco oil cans, three small hammers, a very sharp half-round file and a small hose clamp. Only 14 quid for the lot.

Does the plug on the soldering iron convert from a standard 13A to an old round pin, Dad had a plug like that on his for years?

I had a plug like that on an extension lead at one time, I can’t recall what they were called. You slotted the square pins back in, shake the round pins out & twist then to secure them. It’s many years ago, but from what I recall they used to do 5, 15 & 13 amp. They had some name like convertaplug, they were quite popular, saved carrying adaptor leads, no doubt someone will remember the name.

No it doesn't, but I know what you mean. I did buy a lathe once that had a Bakelite plug with a toggle switch on the top, bit that soon went in the bin.

These soldering irons will probably end up with a new flex and modern plug anyway, so I can use these old type plugs for equipment with heavier current draw. They have the full thickness pins in them not the silly modern waisted pins.

Duckhams oil! Haven't seen (or smelled) that in more than 30 years. I'd like to get a full can of it so I can use it as workshop air freshener

Halfords 20/50 "Classic" motor oil is the same green colour and as I remember, has the same smell as Duckhams oil. Been using it in my old Chevy truck for a fair while now. seems to do the job OK.
