Today I acquired...........

Went to the hospital for routine check up today. Parked in road where council machines are and they wanted £4.20. Put 2 £1 coins in and nothing registered. Pushed the reject button and got 2 pound coins and 2 50p's! Put another pound in and still didn't register. Pushed reject and got out 3 pound coins! Parked for £1.20!!
Made my day!

Cast a new one from ali using the unbroken one as a pattern

Look for "machine handles" on ebay. There are different types, and some as cheap as £3.oo

There are metal ones available also. As with any repair, it all depends on what you consider an adequate fix.

The main shaft has a bar running through the end that the plastic is moulded round, I can cut the plastic off then maybe thread it and make a sleeve to screw over the top???
I'll have a look on fleabay to see what I can get.
Bigegg I'm not up to casting metal at the moment but maybe one day....

Today i acquired! A garage contents from an old boy who died with no relatives. A winfield lathe, fobco drill, Ajax horizontal mill, (small bench mounted) Plus a mountain of tools & tooling too much to count. A rotary table, grinders & set of brand new 5c collets, Dunno what they were from but there is a garage we havent got in yet.
My poor little corolla is wondering whats hit it but is coping manfully. I load down three to go. Update later.

A winfield lathe, fobco drill, Ajax horizontal mill, (small bench mounted) Plus a mountain of tools & tooling too much to count. A rotary table, grinders & set of brand new 5c collets, Dunno what they were from but there is a garage we havent got in yet.
My poor little corolla is wondering whats hit it but is coping manfully. I load down three to go. Update later.

Makes you feel a bit guilty doesn't it, when you clear out peoples stuff, but in the end the owner would have not wanted it all to be scrapped.

i hope you bought your burial plot years ago that amount of space is a premium these days

and with that amonut your collecting you might need the whole church garden

with the amount of tools going in with him you could just run along with a magnet and see when it sticks to the floor

Well i just busted my balls shifting that lot. It took two trips in my car & my other half works not far away so came over at lunch time to put the last of it in her crv.
The Ajax mill is a small horizontal mill probably originally treadle drive? but has been converted to take a motor. It is a small bench mounted job but quite heavy. Getting it down a steep flight of concrete stairs on a sack barrow was interesting. A neighbour sugested being on the down side to steady it. I suggested it was not a good idea as if it started to take charge i was not going to hold it! He saw the sense in this!
The fobco drill is a beauty in perfect condition. Found some more interesting stuff as well.
Do i feel guilty? no, yesterday the council chucked a load more stuff in a lorry so i missed a small startrite bandsaw & a load of materials. Mustnt grumble though!
Sort out time now.
