Today I reacquired my old welding cape/bib out of long term storage. Fortunately it still fits and is in pretty good condition. Here's a photo of it with me about 45 years ago.
Think I'll use this as an Avatar, brings back good memories.

Drill not ground correctly, or bent so it pulls to one side. Once it’s in a bit ,the shank tends to centralise it. Had it before. Had me stumped for awhile

It wouldn't have been quite so bad, but it was from a reputable source. Only thing is it was a coated cobalt drill, so not ideal for aluminium, but should have still done the job.
I was sure I didn't have any more 6.8 jobber length drills, which is why I persevered with trying to get that one to work, but I managed to find a new uncoated drill at the back of the drill bit drawer.

I did order a new pack of more suitable drills on Wednesday night from the same source, as I was sure I didn't have any more 6.8 jobber drills, but DPD are still showing as waiting to receive the package. I think that supplier will be getting moved down my list of preferred suppliers..

Not very exciting for most, but yesterday I collected a full size 20% gas bottle from our local Adam's Gas agent.

The extra cost of the one off rental payment for the large bottle compared with the minimal difference in cost of refills between 20ltr and 50ltr makes it a no brainer which one to go for...

Transportation of a large bottle, is the only real consideration, but they also deliver.....result, so if I dont have time to collect it................

Yeah right, your not going to bin them.

I once salvaged a box full of these, and made up a 50 foot cable ladder using rigid electrical conduit for the rungs and the U-bolt clips for cable spacers. It took up very little space when rolled up into a wheel, and was handy during a few back country expeditions.

One of my weekend jobs as a lad, was to pick all the nails up and straighten them out for my dad.

my dad saved a 50l tub of pallet nails about 40 years ago - all waiting to be straightened
I used them up by throwing them into batches of concrete as reinforcing.
