The police are hot on it here to the point of obsessive. Loads of my mates have been done.Big thumbs up for tilting the tines back.
They are not hot on very much else so I have no idea why. I really dont like to see tines and spikes sticking forward. Dangerous all round.

If the tines can't be flipped back like that then you need to move them on a trailer, our front buckrake needs a pretty substantial metal guard along the front of the tines when on the road.

You can get away with it if they are guarded. People put a pallet on which you can get away with it with but then what do you do with the pallet?!
Bale spikes are another one.
Also, if they are feeling awkward, you can be done for having a bale on there as it is not very often the spikes are type approved as a load carrier on the highway. Like all things no one cares unless 1, you have an awkward policeman or 2, you crash and they want to nobble you for something.....

Yep spring calipers should be called “nearly there calipers”I thought I'd see what this digital internal caliper would be like... unfortunately it's **** pooronly measures to 0.1mm and it's out by that much too. Waste of time for anything other than rough measuring.

I think you said you already have a set, but the only thing to use really is snap gauges/bore gauges.
You need to get yourself a setting ring/standard and take a few measurements to ensure your technique is accurate and then you’re good to go. The feel of the mike is important when working with snap gauges, I’d say I prefer a mechanical micrometer to the digital Mike when measuring snap gauges.
if you’re working on something then same size again and again, then I’d recommend either Tesa or Mitutoyo three point bore micrometers. Expensive to cover a range of measurements though.

Cheers, yeah I'm familiar with telescope gauges and micrometers as I used to do a lot of bearing fitting and some engine rebuilding... Got a few very nice micrometers from years back
I can work telescope gauges fine, I just don't like them. I thought this caliper would be as accurate as a vernier type for rough stuff, but it's no where near.
I think I'll end up getting a few bore indicators and an internal mic for larger bores.

Hope not those things are expensive to buy new. Guy on site said last time he bought a new one it was £400 delivered.
