Never been a fan of Starrett mic's, as you say they just don't feel as good as Mitutoyo etc. They do work well enough, just the feel.Got this. Didn't come with a standard, but it zeroed nicely on my mitutoyo standard, feels nice enough. Not as nice as a mitutoyo/M&W mic, I kinda wonder if it's a fake, but Starrett stuff IMO has always seemed a bit rougher than the other precision toolmakers... anyway it was cheap, lol

Glad it's not just this one. The zero is repeatable enough, but its not as positive a feel as the mittys, M&W or the KS.Never been a fan of Starrett mic's, as you say they just don't feel as good as Mitutoyo etc. They do work well enough, just the feel.

My tig is a Selco 202 ac/dc. I am in the process of making a cooler for it, but don't use it much so no rush. I am really nervous of it dying though - might it be repairable? The left one?
