GR under the crown could be Latin for King George. Today, it would be ER (under a collet).

If you read it carefully, you might find which municipal authority the 270 belongs to (text in the pdf is not OCR'd so no easy way to search it).

Think I found it ? The crown over GR indicates George II
Imperial Standards Uniform Verification Number 270 ( 1879 > 1980 )
Page 46 indicates........ West Bromwich, Stafford Co. ( 1892 > 31-3-1974 )
Well, that was fun.
I'll stick a label on the back with this info for the next generation to know.

Had them for years, keep chains in one and ratchet straps in another, I like them because as above they can take some stick, I dont think a modern tin or plastic box would survive having a gas cylinder slid across it

Don't chop with the saw it ruins the bar and chain. Handy tip, use an axe or a hatchet for the chopping and use the saw for sawing

A hot air unsoldering/soldering station. I've wanted one for a while, swapping out an eeprom bios chip on my laptop triggered the purchase.
It seems ok for 32 quid, not keen on the solid plug, even though there's a fuse on the back of the unit.
Instructionss are the usual terrible translation that bares almost no resemblance to the unit but it's not complex.
I'll try it out later today after I've got through the wife's to-do list....
