One of these to speed up my 20 ton press. I'm sick of pumping the handle. Got a couple of fittings to come via ebay as it is all NPT threads and the press and compressor are BSP I think.

Seems decent. Will put up a review if I get it going. Might need a bigger compressor. One new purchase always leads to another...

I saw that pop up the other day on google, incredibly cheap compared to name brand units. Is it forward-neutral-retract three stage pedal?

I've been looking at Enerpac units but struggling to find any that would take enough oil for my ram which is about 2L of oil just for the ram.

I got a new bottle of Castrol 747 2 stroke oil for the chainsaw and Sthil saw as I don't like the smell of the Silkolene semi synth stuff, the Stihi saw was running rough yesterday as well so I'm blaming that!

If you want a smell to blow your socks then try Castrol R30 or 40 . If you didn't know already you have missed a treat. I've just read the rest of the thread and guess you already knew that. Glad you got out before it did permanent damage.

Erm.... Think so. It was bought on a whim. @henry Kadzielski recommended something like this on an old thread I was viewing so I bought the second smalllest one on Ebay hoping it would be big enough. Pretty sure the hand pump cylinder has less volume.

This one has 1.7 litre capacity.

My press is one of these so not very big. Automotec.

If I knew what I was doing it wouldn't be very exciting...

I've actually just seen an electric pump on eBay which is just the ticket, brand new, but it's a lot more than I was hoping to spend. But it's ready to go with the remote.

The only thing I prefer about the air/hydraulic pumps is the foot pedal. Both hands can be aligning the job then.

No it wouldn't to be fair. You just need two momentary foot pedals one for advance and one for retract.

Or you could fabricate a rocker pedal like the enerpac ones with two heavy duty micro switches and a few springs.

Colin Furze did an interesting electric pump build on his shop press. Too much money for my level of use, not to mention the mechanics of it all.

I expect to be swapping between the air pump and hand pump anyway for delicate stuff and broaching. Just swap a hose connection and bleed the air out I hope.

If you invest in some of the Enerpac style hoses with the quick connects you won't have to bleed

I've just watched his video. Not a bad job there. I doubt him welding around the cylinder did it any favours though. If it was round before it certainly won't be now. His replacement plate was also rather thin compared to the original.

I need 4150psi out of whatever pump I use

Set a Havahart trap to catch a possum (for long distance relocation) frequently carping in my barn. Made the mistake of setting it too close to my boat. Long story short, possums don't have stripes down their backs.
