We had a long training session yesterday with a huge firm of vets specialising in export health certificates.
To ship even a pallet of cake to the EU needs health certs for the eggs - milk and butter used in the cake, £250 for each one
The vets have to inspect the lorry to make sure the vehicle is safe to transport the goods.
This has been in place for British companies exporting to the EU from day 1.
This does NOT apply to goods coming here. Now delayed until July 2022 and I am not holding my breath for it to come in then either.
Why aren't we applying the rules? Empty shelves look bad that's why.

Is very efficient, you have much better material available than you could ever buy yourself. There are great discounts from the manufacturers.
Who is not a member, of course, does not participate.

Experience has shown that a single tractor with metal chips in the hydraulics can infect a whole fleet of tractors and implements.
Because the necessary testing equipment was purchased and plans drawn up at an early stage, the entire fleet of all members can be well tested every year.

It is sometimes a bit of a chore to comply with these rules, but everyone sees their own benefit in the end.

On Youtube, Cutting Edge Engineering's latest two videos demonstrate this perfectly. Foreign matter in the hydraulics has trashed two large hydraulic rams that Kurtis had to rebuild. Must have cost tens of thousands for the material and labour.

There’s a machinery ring here. Not sure about the testing of hydraulic though.
It is a good idea. I will mention it…..

I didn't even know if the 1:1 translation of "Maschinenring" to "machinery ring" made sense in English, apparently it does.

One of the biggest rental companies for construction machinery over here gives me a matching hydraulic hammer for almost nothing when I rent a mini-excavator.
But he rents me this hammer alone for no money in the world just for my own excavator ... all said.

That’s how I read it. There should be filters in the machines but some of the ones I work on are ‘aged’ to say the least

They were. Clever design.

Just had a look seems he's been working on electric versions.

They were great for kite power as the leaning wheels helped with sideways grip. Kite pulls a vehicle at 45 degrees or so rather than pulling it forward.

Older tractors don't have much in the way of protection on the hydraulics, a basic strainer on the pump pickup and a filtered return. Any gearbox/axel/bearing swarf will get sucked through the pump and fired around the whole system including steering, brake boosters, aux and any plugged in implements. They dont seem to bother with HP filters on a lot of this kit.

Doesn't take much. Sloppy work putting an end on a new hose can put loose rubber shards into the bore of the hose which travel to the valve block and wreak havoc. If an attachment has loose hose ends rather than quick couplings they naturally scoop up dirt off the floor and being oily it glues itself into the inside of the hose ready to do damage when it's fitted up. We sometimes have awful problems at work with people carrying spare hoses and swapping them out without checking for debris in the hose. It might have been kicking around in a van for 6 months and full of dust and grit.

Worst of all is the man in the van hose repair service, they chop saw the hose to length, crimp on the fittings and fit it. Never seen any of them ever flush a hose prior to fitting.

It is both ways, I just got stuffed with goods coming in from the EU, UPS wanted their fee, UK government wanted theirs then of course I had the VAT to pay. It is exactly the same as I would be if buying from the USA or any other country, how anyone thought that if we left then it would just carry as before astonishes me.

They listened to certain polywhatsits and didn't think further than the headlines.

Ive rode BMX, downhill Kite buggied and boarded. Rode mototrials over the years. Never needed to visit a&e for a sport yet. Few bumps and bruises only.

Had a few close calls but always limped away.

Have the urge to build another kite buggy. Never made the 100k club and it's always niggled. Topped out at 54.4mph. Before circumstances forced me to sell my race kites to remain solvent.

I get you . . .

I think it was thought the dues we used to pay were a little high for the use of machines we were allowed, while we felt our equipment was over-used when you borrowed it and forgot to pay the full fee, so we moved away, expecting to pay a reduced fee for the more restricted use we might now want, while continuing to prove with the same test as before, we were still okay to use it.

Except now you require the same machines, with the same use, to be tested much more, more often, to greater depth for apparently little benefit other than costing us more money, time and effort.

Might not be felt to be so bad where we've moved to, if our new location applied similar tests in return for the odd bit of gear you used . . . and you didn't threaten to turn the lights out in the shed if we tried to . . .
