Claas combines were stuffed full of gib head keys years ago and they did sell drifts for removing them that looked almost exactly like that drawing. The sides weren't parallel either, but slightly wider at the base, designed to be used one way up only. They sort of worked, but it was still a nightmare!

You and me both. I don't mind scaffolding or anything where there's a stable base, but I loathe being up a ladder. It's not helped by the fact that none of the ground around my house is anywhere near level, so getting the ladder onto a stable base is far from trivial.
Snap. Not particularly bothered by height if it's secure. That's why I spent money on a decent tower scaffold. Ladders are hateful things. Especially when working solo.
I'd use that for a welding earth clamp.
