You are missing a trick, they should then become waterproof trousers.....then finally after 'rolling around on the floor in oil' jobs they go in the bin

Then, as it is usually the knees that wear the most, cut them down into shorts, please note, do not cut too short if you are male as the Daisy Dukes look is not good on a man.You are missing a trick, they should then become waterproof trousers.

I took my last two gauges apart and used fine wet & dry to rub all edges smooth , then washed the metal parts off in petrol , dried them and lubed them with silicone oil , wiped it almost off and reassembled them they are now nice & smooth , a far cry from the scratchy crap they were when purchased.View attachment 334837
Quick comparison, they all measure near dead on. Jaws are not perfect but close enough. One is a bit short, has a max of 150.34mm when it hits the stop.
Feel, a little scratchy, not half as smooth as my mitutoyos but same as the old pair.
Verynears is all they need to be. Anything important will be checked with a mic, I wouldnt rely on the Mitutoyo verynears either. Not had any of them fail, they do play up with condensation, wd40 sorts it out.Never seen the allure of buying cheap tat. They never work properly for very long and quite frankly,I wouldnt trust them. Would land up checking whatever I measure with a decent quality one anyway,so what is the point?
Go on then, tell us how to do a proper inspection.Do you know how to carry out a proper inspection on them?
Have you got a gauge ball or gauge pin?
Seeing the protective cases for them .... I did a simply battery holder modification that holds two spare batteries. I never saw the need for an expensive device as I've a reasonable set of imperial & metric G frame micrometers . The expensive ones get knackered just as well as a cheap one if you drop one , having frost bite injuries in my finger tips & being a diabetic means It's cheaper to have the lesser set.View attachment 334837

Use a known dia precision ball bearing to check the accuracy ? Make another battery box/ holder in the case for it?Verynears is all they need to be. I have 50, 75 and 100 gauge blocks and a set of lengths that came with the micrometers.

Stick a light bulb on it and stick it on Etsy. It will go down a storm in some loft apartment. Was asked to help clear my aunts house as she's gone into a care home, so came away with Basil part of the Henry group by the looks of it, but havnt found much info yet..
And an old sack cart, its of no use to me, but planed to clean it up and either use as a display piece somehow or sell it on to help with her funds. (Open to ideas and best ways to keep it original but clean it up)

Or lay it flat, place a piece of toughened glass on rubber buffers across the ladder and hey presto, an industrial chic coffee table.Stick a light bulb on it and stick it on Etsy. It will go down a storm in some loft apartment.
I've got a Kemppi too...it's very hard to explain to people who haven't got one just how good these machines are!Yesterday I acquired a new mig
