which oil did you use? filled mine with ATF - just because that's what I always fill gearboxes with... mine is still going great years later (tho admittedly doesn't get much use)

Seriously? £110 before carriage IIRC. About 3 times the price of a normal new one. None of my current cans have been bought, all have been dump finds, so using man maths this one is free based on the saving from the other ones.
Wavian jerry cans are supposed to be top tier - made like the old fashioned MoD ones with a recessed seam. Better than most of the cheapy ones you seem to get now.
You do need to be sitting down before you see the price of their stainless ones though.
Mind you, that said, the can is probably cheaper than the fuel you put in it thesedays...

This has got the seam. The Wavian ones were dearer and had a non standard filler cap.

Got myself a sewing machine! I know next to nothing about them, clearly there's bits missing but I haven't figured out what yet. It all seems to work but I think it wants the old dry oil washed out of it before I try using it.
Model 96K41, that makes it an "Industrial, Drop feed, with reverse", whatever that means. Made in 1935 in Elizabethport USA. Please educate me if you know what's missing.
I've got a motor for it (Which I forgot to take a picture of), it's an absolutely enormous 1/3HP Wimsew motor with a brake/clutch, runs very smoothly and silently. Couldn't get the table or pedal home so I'll have to make something up.

The way the jaws lock on the part as you close it. Stilsons are just an adjustable spanner, dont like them, always loosen off when you dont want. Mole grips, never found them much good at loosening tight stuff. If the two had babies, this would be the result.** They really bite in and can easily put teeth marks in the part, but its not going to slip or let go. Not ideal for spinning off a binding nut, but great for holding/loosening.

I thought those were sh1t till I borrowed one to be fair. The sort of crap you see demo’d at the county show.
I was working with a guy who lent me one when I had a tiny access to a captive nut which was un captive. Worked really well. I wouldn’t want to use them on everything- kind of a Swedish Nut Lathe Mk2 - but they have a use for sure. Probably good on brake fittings and bleed nipples.
I agree re moles. I’ve loads but they only get used for clamping / holding.
Decent Stilsons (proper ones, not cheap ones) are a good thing. They never move and will shift most stuff. But you get what you pay for. But like adjustables really!
I have a plan to make some delrin / nylatron jaws for a Stilson when I get a minute and see how they fare.

Because Ply and (all North American Sheetrock) comes in 4' x 8' sheets and at 16" centres you get the board edge landing in the centre of a stud/joist/rafter.

Garage sale yesterday, 2x cast alloy drill indexes with a nearly full set of imperial and metric presto drills plus a handful of spares. Sykes pickvant pipe flaring kit (tried it and it is top notch), 1/2" britool ratchet, assorted letter and number punches, imperial thread chasing file and a 1/2hp bench grinder. £40 all in
