Spotted this at a local auction.
Its a record no 24, very grubby, jaws worn smooth but otherwise in fair used condition. Only problem was that the quick release lever & bar had broken off and were missing. As a result the nut didn't grip the thread & the front jaw slid in & out freely. Not a problem for me, it's just some basic engineering to make one.
So the vice comes up at the sale & I start bidding. Someone else wanted it but I got it for £32 inc fees.
But here's the bonus - at the end of the sale when I went to collect the vice I spot this on the bench.
It's the missing qr lever, I suspect someone hid it under another lot, probably the other bidder!
No matter, I have another vice for little £££ - result!
