Is that an old-school one , We had one at college that still needed floppy discs right next to a hundred thousand pound XYZ CNC lathe and mill lol.

Yeah it has a floppy drive. The Centroid M400 controls are pretty sweet for their age though, and you can easily change the floppy drive for an emulator on these unlike the Prototraks which sometimes throw a hissy fit. Once i get up to speed with conversional programming I'll probably just use it for jobbing like that.

I don't know if you know this so tell me if I'm teaching you to suck eggs, but if that is polystyrene then make sure your cables are not in contact with it, the cable sheath and insulation reacts with polystyrene and will become un-sheathed and un-insulated!

Not to believe, there actually offers in Germany someone an original Myford crank, with which you can easily drive the spindle in the smallest steps, in good condition and at a reasonable price.

The seller had even the original article number provided, so I could look up the dimensions - fantastic.

... but when I got the part here and unpacked it, I had my first doubts ... it looked too strong for 5/8" or even 19/32" ... what this?

Friendly contact with the seller taken, he has "sent me # 95/197 but # 20/197 indicated in the ad".

The seller immediately rolls over with apologies, but pointing out that he found the part number on the sticker on the crank, but had neglected to remeasure.

And really, on the sticker is the number that fits the smaller crank, only that the sticker just sticks on the BigBore crank for the specimens with 1" spindle bore ... but in the opposite direction than on the original pictures and attached with an adhesive strip ....

At some point in it's life, the crank must have gotten a wrong sticker and as unused as it looks I assume that it was passed from one new owner where it did not fit to the next - probably for the first buyer in Germany was the effort of sending it back just too big ....

The seller has then offered me some refund, but never wanted to see the crank again - his loss was his teaching money, he wrote and wished me luck - the money was with me within seconds ....

So here I have a Myford crank that does not fit on my machines, the first British friend I asked also has a too small machine - so now I'm thinking: can someone use it or - the more sporty variant - will I manage to make the part that belongs in the spindle bore myself and marry it to the crank to use it? ....

If that's a genuine Myford crank handle for a Myford big bore lathe then someone will be willing to pay well for it. They are £90 new.

Today I acquired ...a new word to my vocabulary....osteoporosis . At least I now know why my hearing has gone pear shaped....and to think I wore those stupid ear defenders all for nowt!

There was one positive....the ENT said it was a common cause of hearing loss in "Young adults"

Until now, I had never associated osteoporosis with hearing loss, only with bone weakness - but of course it's true, hearing also works through little bones ...

But I have just read one good thing: One of many risk factors for osteoporosis is underweight - so I'm not in danger from that side ...

Mine just went all of a sudden one day...bit rubbish really. I've definitely noticed I avoid social interactions....I mean more than I usual do of course! It's good to finally get a definitive answer though....there is an operation but oh boy it sounds scary! Going to try the hearing aid route first I think.

Dunno if I spelt it correctly....basically the stirrup bone is stuck in place.
