All fried, The 2 PSU may be repairable. The 2 CD drives released the famous blue smoke of death.

The heat shrinks and the processors to go with them are well fried.

They are from a integrated security and access system, own dedicated supply (115vAc) into the building, fuse board and spurs.

More warning stickers than you can shake a stick at.
Plugs are red, with Do not remove stickers.

The main tower, think old tower desk top computer, but with 2 CD roms, 6 caddy drives.

I think we get the picture.

So, why does a dam site sparky think he can re wire it to 240Vac so he can supply 115v to his work shop for his power tools.

The rest of the system is stuffed full of site confidential information and is now on it's way back to Germany to be investigated if it can be recovered.
That lot I get to document and dispose of.

In the early days of PC ownership I was upgrading regularly, and built a very nice machine from my replaced parts to send to my (effective) daughter-in-law for the use of her child. Her doughball of a partner flipped the voltage selector switch on the PSU because... because what, I never found out. Maybe he thought it would run faster, or something.

This guy not only un hooked the incoming and choc blocked to a cable he had run from about 100m away, he piggy backed a 240v 32amp supply By passing the breaker into the dedicated fuses board.

Out of curiosity what are your plans for the collection of deceased electronics? Also how come they allowed you to walk away with the hard drive?

The hard drive was the one we used to test system, no confidential information has ever bean near it. Not even building plans.
Heat shrinks, junk, weigh in.
CD Drives, strip, steel rear earth magnets. Scrap the rest.
PSU if that non replacement fuse has blown, replace. Use as a de rusting tank PSU.

Cables use as and when.

I guess you have to collect a lot of dead stuff to make it worth weighing in. I did wonder to what level you'd bother repairing the PSUs as the parts often cost far more than the whole

I'm a dead junk magnet, it's hard work to get me to throw it out ..... must have another go at clearing the loft tomorrow :-/ Wish me luck ....

Although I did plasma cut a few hard drives a while back ... just to make sure they were wiped

The PSU have a so called un-serviceable link, AKA a fuse. Replace that, if good I get a free PSU for a de rusting tank.
I have a link with a fuse on "Croc" clips. If it works it gets fixed if not strip down.
It soon mounts up.
A clue.

Well I knew you could get paid for scrap metal, but all the other stuff I pretty much thought you had to pay to get rid of. Realistically what sort of volume are we talking? Skip loads?
