Yesterday I bought something I never knew I needed (I still don’t know if I do). Someone advertised a Gravograph pantograph engraver, with 8 boxes of letters and numbers on Facebook.
I googled to find out what it was, and what it did, and decided to give it a go, so collected it yesterday. Hardly used, and just needing the dust removed, and a wee touch of oil here and there.
The lass was selling it for her boss who originally bought it years ago to make plates for the equipment they sell. She pointed out that it was never used, was filling one of her storage shelves, and anyway, everyone used sharpies to mark the pumps.
Look at me entering the 20th century technology race.
Managed to spend a couple of hours tonight giving it a clean, and my first attempt at a ‘test’ label. I want to eventually try some freehand stuff with it.

That's rather lovely: I'm jealous!
I made a pantograph attachment for my milling machine a few years ago, based on a Joe Pieczynski design (but remodelled in more civilised units). I don't use it very often, but it's come in handy on a few occasions. I found it very hard to get hold of the letters, so I made some on the work laser printer. I'd probably just 3D print them now if I needed more.
