Now time for testing and confirming it all works before dealing with kickstarter and putting an order in for 200!

It's a combination of a centrifugal rope grab mechanism with a progress capture rope grab built into one device. Weighs and costs less than a petzl asap/edelrid fuse.

Since Brexit we don't get too many HGV's this end of the M4 do truckers still tie rag to their mirror arms to flap & wipe them clean or is it now illegal ?

I doubt it's illegal, in fact I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

And it's not just the mirrors that get filthy, the windows are as bad, the problem being that the steps are covered when the doors are shut and as the cab is so high you struggle to reach the windows to clean them, hence the pump spray.

I was in the yard most of Friday, shunting trailers around and trans-shiping loads, so I managed to give the wagon a damn good wash. Considering she's nearly 8 years old with over half a million miles underneath her wheels she looks superb, but she'll doubtless be black again by 10 o'clock tomorrow...

Depends if used as a protective device or just as a lanyard/work positioning device.

Theres no standards for what that is designed, lead soloing, it is very high risk as theres currently no single device that can reliably catch you. Infact I think this one is only intended as a backup for use with a robe grab/shunt type device.

EN 15151-1 could cover some aspects of its use.

Rock exotica used to make some lead solo devices.

Certification would be great but unfortunately way too expensive and would cost more than any profit I make.

As Kram said it's a niche device so no specific test for it, it's designed as a "mechanical third hand" to grab the rope and increase friction, it isn't meant to be used on its own etc

Good guess, it's a centrifugal cam mechanism with integrated progress capture rope grab. Effectively it's a combination of the petzl asap and micro traxion but in a more refined design specifically for lead rope solo.

It's designed to solve one of the remaining problems with LRS which is upside-down falls/dealing with backup knots - it gives you the freedom of worry and looks like a bell hence FreeBell

I have some coolant through ones too.

That's a lot of
8 die stocks, 3 are either shop made or repaired, 1 is a pipe threader apparently.
All of them are 100% made out of steel.
6 tap wrenches in various sizes bigger one is a #3
1 might be made out of aluminum the other ones are surely steel
17 dies I've seen few M10 and the bigger one in the die stock on the left is 1" pipe
At least 10 taps sets + random taps most of them appear to be either SAE or BSW
And 6 brand new Nicholson triangular files.

This should have made me expand my collection up to
12 tap wrenches covering all the sizes up to #5 or 6 (I have an huge one that takes M40 taps)
14 or 15 die stocks again covering most sizes up to 80? mm die
Added other good quality dies to the collection and honestly I don't need more taps because I have more than 100 machine taps covering most sizes up to M45 various pitches and flute designs, forming taps, manual taps, spiral tip, spiral flutes, vape coated, tin coated, HSSCo, coolant through everything.
Good quality ones Gühring, Dormer, Fette, Emuge, Wexo, Garant.
I have complete cheapish (150 euro) SAE taps and dies set up to 3/4" in UNF UNC .
I don't really need anything more than that a part of some NPT taps

Yea I think I recognise them...I used to collect cereal box tokens and send them off. The propellers would often break off in the post . They used to do other toys too as I recall.

The planes were part of their battle of Britain series I think.

As a machinist and tool lover, whenever I spot a good bargain that includes machinist related stuff I have to get the deal.
I have collected a little gold mine in taps, dies, drill bits etc.
I'm afraid about whenever I'll be able to get a milling machine....
Because I'll have to start hunting for VHM drills, end mills, indexable mills, slitting saws, arbours, adapters, collet chucks, gear cutters.
I've just figured out it's better not to get one

Start with a lathe - cheaper tooling, cheaper workholding, I'd even say easier to use and more useful in many situations.

Send it to Hownot2 he'll test it to destruction, it won't provide you with any official certification but might be a bit of publicity depending how well it does.

Same as any tap, just a larger hole to predrill, m8 should be 7.4mm - 7.5mm depending on the thread engagement and material. As the thread will be stonger, a lower engagement will be ok in tougher materials.

I already have one, with expensive tooling too.
Problem is that I'm building the workshop to put it in.
It will need a complete teardown and cleaning because I've completely covered it with grease to prevent rusting when I've got it and going to repeat the treatment as soon as possible.
I have few bits at home like the tailstock and all the chucks and tooling.
Mostly impero sandvik stuff .
Not the biggest but not even the smallest
It can potentially spin up to 300mm in diameter on the bed and turn up to 800mm in length between centers.
The only downside of it is that it's a change gears lathe no Norton or half Norton box but you can reverse the feed direction not the rotation because of the threaded spindle nose.
No separate feed screw everything running on the lead screw I'll probably modify the apron to use a ball screw for regular feeds and save the lead screw for cutting threads.
It has a pretty good spindle set up, it spins on conical adjustable bushings, and I could theorycally reduce the run out down to 0.01mm with pressurized lubrication

I was almost tempted to sell them out because we don't even use them at work and I didn't know they can be used manually.
I'll make an in depth research about because they might come in handy for hydraulics
